Sidari is famous for the Canal D’Amour, a narrow channel that has been carved in the sandstone cliffs over thousands of years creating a very attractive natural feature. There is also a sandy beach which is 2 kilometres long with great views north towards Albania. You’ll have a choice of different watersports and boat rides, both fun ways to see more of the coastline. Sidari also has a reputation for its nightlife with many bars where the party carries on late into the night. Start the evening at Sunset Beach or one of the cliff top bars 10 minutes’ drive west for an incredible sunset.
Sidari has supermarkets as well as smaller specialist shops if you plan to cook at your villa. There are also plenty of places to pick up souvenirs and gifts made in Corfu including leatherwork, honey and olive oil. Corfu’s only market takes place in Corfu Town every morning apart from Sunday. It’s a lively experience with traders selling local produce including fruit, cheese and freshly caught fish.
If you decide to take a break from cooking on your villa BBQ, you’ll have plenty of choices in Sidari. Here you'll find a selection of tavernas where you can spend a lazy evening indulging in a traditional Greek meze. If you fancy something different, take your pick from Italian, Mexican, British and Chinese. Sidari also has lively bars with live music and nightclubs which carry on late into the night
Calm and shallow waters lap Sidari’s main sandy beach making it perfect for swimming with little ones. You can also keep busy with water sports, including parasailing and diving. There are plenty of sun loungers and parasols on the main beach and beachside bars and cafes to keep you supplied with drinks and snacks. If you want to see more of the Canal D’Amour and the surrounding tiny coves, they can be reached by steep paths and in some cases ladders.
Besides building sandcastles on the beach, there are plenty of fun things for families to do. You can hire a pedalo or take a ride on a banana boat. The Yellow Submarine glass bottomed boat trip leaves from Kassiopi harbour and you can see down to a depth of 30 metres, a great way to meet some of the more unusual locals! For a family day out, take a trip to Aqualand Waterpark, about 50 minutes’ drive south.
If you would like to spend a day at sea, there are some great organised boat trips. You could combine sightseeing and shopping with a boat trip to Corfu Town. The trip takes you along the east coast past Kouloura, Kalami, Ipsos and Dassia and includes a swimming stop at Kerasia. If you prefer to be independent, you can take a ferry from Sidari to Erikoussa, a tiny, unspoiled island with a long, crowd-free sandy beach. When you are hungry, walk to the old village for picnic supplies.
Or why not enjoy the scenery from Corfu's highest point, Mount Pantokrator, 20 minutes' drive south of Sidari. The north coast of the island also has several small but delightful Corfiot villages to explore as well as some of the most beautiful countryside on the island.
