Villa Location
Villa Jarros is located within easy driving distance to Mijas village and resort town of Fuengirola where you will find all the activities and facilities for a fulfilling holiday. There is a wonderful, long stretch of sandy beach along the Fuengirola coastline, and the extensive promenade is full of beach bars, play areas for children and many other attractions. Near the centre of the town and the promenade you will find the marina of Fuengirola, with restaurants, cafes and bars.

Location features

Local markets and shopping

On top of the shops in Mijas village, the local street market is held in Fuengirola on a Tuesday morning, and there are markets in the other surrounding towns on different days of the week. For indoor shopping there are several shopping centres in the area, one of the largest being the Mirador commercial centre which, apart from all the branded name shops, also offers an array of snack bars and areas for the children to enjoy.

Bars and restaurants

Conveniently close to your villa there is a hotel called Tamisa Golf where you can make use of the popular restaurant and bar within. For a traditional lunch or dinner, there is a local 'Venta' or roadside inn where you can experiment and try the menu of the day and a selection of traditional dishes. Or a little further afield, in Mijas village, as well as the town of Fuengirola and along the seafront, there is an exciting mixture of ethnic, modern and traditional style restaurants to choose from. Also in Fuengirola there are all sorts of cafes and bars to sample during the day, with many of them continuing later into the night.

Beaches

The nearest beach is the Sohail beach, situated just below the impressive Sohail castle building at the western end of the town. This is one of Fuengirola's more popular beach areas but there are many other beaches to choose from along the coastline which stretches for miles.

Family fun

Heading into Fuengirola, you will find the Parque Acuatico water park, open during high season and loved by young and old alike. Within the town, close to the bus station there is Bioparc zoo, a family favourite for visitors throughout the years. Of course, these are just 2 of the attraction on offer.

Places of interest

While on your Costa del Sol villa holiday Malaga city provides a great day out. You can explore the old town centre with its narrow cobbled streets and traditional shops to browse, or visit the Picasso museum and several other sites of interest. Much further down the coast, why not visit the rock of Gibraltar and enjoy the fabulous views across the straights towards Morocco?

Golf

The nearest golf course to your villa is the Tamisa Golf course which is just a few minutes drive from your villa.

Malaga

Compared to the hustle and bustle and cosmopolitan atmosphere of the Costa del Sol holiday resorts, Malaga is a very "Andalucian" city. The vast majority of holidaymakers pick up their hire car, venture no further than Malaga Airport and give the city itself a wide berth and in doing so they are missing a true opportunity to mix with the Andalucian people and see how life goes on.
Historically, Malaga dates back to the Phoenicians. It was then occupied by the Romans and afterwards the Moors occupied the city from the eighth century until 1487 when during the re-conquest, the Christians retook Malaga after a long and very bloody battle. The most recent fighting took place during the Spanish Civil War between 1936-1939 when the city, by supporting the Republican cause, was severely bombed by the Italians who had come to the aid of Franco's Nationalist side.
Anybody wishing to explore the city on their villa holiday, should do it on foot. Most of the sights are centred on Malaga's old quarter which is a maze of narrow cobbled streets and found around the cathedral, park and bullring areas. Most of the sights have a Moorish flavour but the discovery of a Roman theatre close to the Alcazaba has been very exciting.
Visit a traditional Spanish tapas bar. Visit the port and take a boat trip around the harbour. Shop at El Corte Ingles or better still in the little old fashioned shops in the old quarter. Hop on a bus up to the castle overlooking the city for fabulous views of the city and coast and finally spoil yourself with a drink at the adjacent Parador. Malaga Cathedral is also worth visiting on your holiday to Costa del Sol. It was built in the 16th century and is nicknamed 'La Manquita', the one-armed lady, due to one of the two towers never having been completed.
Malaga's beaches probably won't be of too much interest to the average holidaymaker who will be able to enjoy their own further along the coast. However, the beaches which are closer to the city get very busy at weekends but are fairly quiet during weekdays.
Malaga has several open spaces that have been planted offering shade with the palms and colour from the bedding plants and other Mediterranean species that survive the intense summer Spanish heat.

Gibraltar
Gibraltar has a fascinating history and probably a colourful future – who knows! The border with Spain was shut for 13 years from 1969, during and after the death of the dictator, General Franco, with Spain pursuing her claim to the Rock. Nevertheless, it is a welcoming destination with a mix of Arabic, Spanish and British influences with plenty of history and sights to see. Don’t miss the Great Seige Tunnels built in 1782, the views from the cable car and the endearing colony of apes that will steal your wallet with a swish of their tail. With dolphin trips and good duty free shopping, take your passport and enjoy.
Activity
The Golf course from east to west
Golf is no longer an elitist sport and at any time of the year there are players of all levels, from all walks of life participating in this healthy and relaxing past time. Golf and tourism go hand in hand with golfers making Spain their premier destination in Europe.

The Costa del Sol, known also as the Costa del Golf has gone golf crazy with thousands of players passing through Malaga airport every year and heading for any one of the fine courses – some of which have sprung up almost overnight.

Whilst some are strictly for the experienced such as the world famous Valderrama, others welcome experienced and novices alike. Some have a peculiar character like the unique floodlight course of Dama de Noche in Marbella, the stunning coastal course of Alcaidesa Links or the fabulous La Cala de Mijas courses, set in breathtaking countryside.

The added attraction is that whatever time of the year you come to the Costa del Sol you can play golf – and enjoy some very attractive offers on green fees and hire costs during the summer months. Many courses invite visitors to play in local tournaments provided they reserve in advance.
Activity
Parque Acuatico Mijas
One of the most popular water parks on the coast is the Mijas Aquapark where the Adventure River ride, a 300ft winding raft slide awaits you.

Try surfing the wave pool or the huge kamikaze slide, bathe in the clear blue waters of the lake, or enjoy the twists and turns while speeding through the labyrinth slide to the pool at the bottom.

For young children and tiny tots Aqualandia has two water playgrounds and a shallow activity pool. All this set in lush gardens with a variety of sports facilities, great restaurants, picnic and bbq areas.
