Costa del Sol
Marbella is famous for its glamorous, lively nightlife and is one of the Costa del Sol's most elegant resorts. The Golden Mile (actually 8 kilometres) and its seafront is full of stylish restaurants and bars overlooking the golden sand. There is a whole host of upmarket boutiques and high class restaurants to explore, making a villa in Marbella an excellent choice. Head in to the old town and it’s a different atmosphere with old churches, cobbled streets and plazas packed with shops and galleries. The famed Plaza de los Naranjos is lined with orange trees and perfect for alfresco dining.
Marbella is a shopper’s paradise with several boutique shops lining the streets along with a number of shopping complexes. La Canada Shopping Centre is home to a collection of high street brands as well as high priced designer labels and a good choice of eateries! There's a regular street market in Marbella on a Monday, whilst the cobbled streets of the town provide a charming shopping experience.
Like the town itself, Marbella’s culinary scene offers an eclectic blend of exotic and traditional! You’ll find everything from Michelin-starred restaurants to fresh sea food and traditional tapas menus. If you fancy dinner with a wonderful view head to the chiringuitos - beach bars - many of which are open at night serving traditional paella and fresh fish. Famed for its glitzy nightlife, Marbella is home to a number of popular bars and clubs, many offering live music and DJ’s.
At the shopping centre in nearby Elviria there are a good choice of bars, cafes and restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets. Alternatively, Cabopino Marina, a small yet attractive port with a fabulous beach area and several cafes and restaurants, is also just a 20 minute drive from Marbella.
Marbella's Coastline has a whole host of beaches for you to discover, with plenty of family friendly options. Most have sunbeds and parasols for hire as well as at least one chiringuito to keep you supplied with cold drinks and fresh food. There are also a number of luxury beach clubs available, such as the famous Nikki Beach with a swimming pool, VIP sun beds and a large open air restaurant. For a great day out there is arguably nowhere better than Funny Beach, just at the entrance to Marbella town, with jet skis and go karting.
Take a ride on the tourist train, a fun and family friendly way to explore Marbella promenade and old town. Or why not take to the skies and visit the Aventura Amazonia theme park? Located 10 minutes’ drive from Marbella, this park is home to a whole host of treetop walkways, ziplines and adventure courses. There is even a Mini Kids zone with a climbing wall and mini zipline for the younger children, so the whole family can enjoy the park.
A little further afield, in Fuengirola, children and adults alike will enjoy a day at the water park, Parque Acuatico, as well as the Bioparc Zoo, both within a 30 minute drive.
Just a 10 minute drive will take you to nearby Puerto Banus, with its glamourous harbour and designer shops. A number of chic restaurants and bars can be found along the seafront, offering the perfect spot to unwind with a cocktail after a day of shopping.
Or, slightly further afield, you can easily make a day trip to Gibraltar. Just over an hours drive from Marbella, you can visit the famous Gibraltar Rock and take advantage of the duty-free shopping – don’t forget your passport!
