Alternatively, the fantastic beach of Playa Grande running along the main buzzing Strip is 15 minutes away on foot. This villa is perfect for large families and groups with a great large private pool, a separate children's pool, plus a 1 bedroom annexe. Air conditioning/heating in the bedrooms and lounge , pool heating and WiFi are included.

Villa Description

Swimming pool, pool terrace and sunbathing area

The outside area is surrounded by volcanic stone walls adding a degree of privacy as well as some character. There are 2 pools - a large main pool and small children's one - both perfect for a splashing time. There is a shower to the side and ample space for sun seekers around the private pool under the palm trees. A covered terrace provides a welcome break from the Canarian sunshine and houses the dining table and chairs as well as brick BBQ. It is great for dining alfresco.

Entrance

Although a car is not required there is on road parking if you decide to hire one. From the street, a pedestrian gate with 3 steps leads to the front door, which opens into the living area.

Lounge and kitchen

The living area is bright and consists of a comfortable seating area, a flat screen TV and a small coffee table. There are windows framing the view out towards the terrace and pool. An archway leads to the dining area and compact but well-equipped kitchen. There is also a utility room in the villa.

Bedrooms and bathrooms

There are 3 double bedrooms - one of which has an en suite bathroom and another with an en suite shower room - and 2 twin bedrooms. You'll also have a separate bathroom and a separate shower room.

Annexe

The self- contained annexe is reached by crossing the private pool area from the main villa. It consists of an open plan living/dining area, an L shaped kitchen with hob and fridge, and a double bedroom with an en suite shower room.

Villa Location

This villa is tucked away off a small street in a residential area of Puerto del Carmen. Being set in the heart of the lively resort, Villa Mirafondo has a supermarket around the corner and the shops, bars and restaurants are all within 5 minutes' walk. The main strip is within 15 minutes' walk, along with a good number of places to eat, drink and shop. A 10 minute drive will take you to the old town and harbour where you can enjoy a seafood lunch at one of the restaurants facing the sea.

Local markets and shopping

There is a supermarket around the corner and a leisurely stroll leads you to the main promenade with more shops for your daily essentials. If you are after some retail therapy, Puerto del Carmen is the place to be! Shops selling designer clothes, shoes, sportswear, gifts, and jewellery, plus beauty salons can be found here. There is a market in the harbour in the old town every Friday selling local goodies from in and around Lanzarote. Or, Teguise Market on a Sunday is well worth a visit.

Bars and restaurants

The main promenade with many bars and restaurants is 5 minutes' walk away. If you walk along the coastline you'll find more private sandy coves offering an array of bars and restaurants of all types from typical Spanish tapas, Chinese, Italian, international to British. At night, the main Strip, 15 minutes' walk away, comes to life. For those looking for the nightlife it is found around Centro Atlantico where disco bars, night clubs, comedy theme bars and live music venues can be found.

Beaches

For beach lovers, there is a good choice in Puerto del Carmen. Here you can find large sandy beaches with water sports and more private coves. The closest beach to Villa Mirafondo is Playa Pocillos, 5 minutes' walk away and Playa Grande is 10 minutes further.

Family fun

A fun day out for all the family is Rancho Texas Park. Spend a day with animals and birds from all over the world, search for gold, hire a canoe and watch the spectacular birds of prey and parrot shows. By night the Ranch converts into a cowboy and Indian theme night with all you can eat BBQ, line dancing, children's entertainment, disco and mechanical bull.

Places of interest

The National Park of Timanfaya is probably the most famous place in Lanzarote. Take the journey through the Lunar route passing some of the largest craters and the valley of tranquillity to fully appreciate the natural energy that has shaped the island.

Another popular area is the old town and harbour, a leisurely 40 minutes' stroll or around 10 minutes in a car. Keeping its original charm, it's a place where the locals mingle with the tourists, maybe playing a game of Spanish boules or enjoying a glass of the local wine on one of the terraces overlooking the sea. The heart of the harbour is the square where many fiestas and concerts are held during the summer months surrounded by many different types of restaurants to suit all tastes. There are also a few bars and a small night club.

Golf

There is an 18-hole golf course a 10 minute drive away, just located behind Puerto del Carmen. A more established course is also available in Costa Teguise located on the East Coast. Or, there's a pitch and putt course in the Hesperia Hotel in Playa Blanca.

Other activities

A great way to familiarise yourself with Puerto del Carmen is to hire a bike. Make the most of the purpose - built cycle lanes that go along the coast and all the way into the capital of Lanzarote - Arrecife, passing rugged unspoilt beaches along the way.

Activities and things to do

Rancho Texas

In Puerto del Carmen signposted along the sea front. By day a theme park with sea lions, pumas, reptiles, birds from all over the world, petting zoo, play areas, pony rides, parrot show, crocodiles and a not to be missed, a birds of prey demonstration. Restaurant for lunches. By night the ranch converts into a family night out with a cowboy and Indian theme. All you can eat BBQ and free flowing drinks. Family entertainment from the staff, line dancing display and lessons, lassoo show, live music, mechanical bull. Kids games in the tee pees and pony rides for children of all ages. Finishes with a disco until 11pm.

Old Town and Harbour

The picturesque harbour, which is surrounded by the old village of Puerto del Carmen, is lined with bars and restaurants to suit all tastes. As you would expect, the restaurants in this area serve fresh seafood and fish dishes.

The villa is exceptional and so are the staff. The only pointer would be a few more towels. But that is a matter of personal choice. I will be booking a third time to this villa. Thank you very much for a great holiday
