Enjoy the seafront dining restaurants of this popular resort, stroll along the pretty harbour and visit the fabulous, sandy Waikiki Beach. The Acua Water Park is reachable in a leisurely 10 minute walk, while the spectacular sand dunes of Parque Natural are just a 10 minute drive away. Our villa Alana is next door and villas Lindo and Lauren are on the same street.

Location features

Local markets and shopping

Corralejo's main street offers a broad range of shops including clothing and souvenir outlets. You'll also find some smaller boutiques with local crafts and traditional goods on offer. Just a 10 minute walk away is the Acua Water Park, which is host to a twice-weekly market held on Tuesdays and Fridays. For holiday essentials, there's a supermarket just a few minutes' drive from the villa.

Bars and restaurants

The resort's main street is full of varied dining options to suit a broad range of tastes. There's Indian and Chinese restaurants, as well as classic British cuisine. For some authentically Canarian flavour, try one of the waterside restaurants at the harbour where you can enjoy a meal with a view over the boats. By night, this area is quite lively as the bars and clubs come to life.

Fuerteventura has a plethora of postcard worthy beaches and the Corralejo area has some of the best on the island. Waikiki Beach is just a short car journey or 20 minute walk away and offers a wide bay of pristine white sand backed by beach bars and restaurants. Watersports such as kite surfing are also popular here. Another excellent option for water based activity is Grandes Playas, which can be reached in less than a 10 minute drive. You'll often spot kites and parasails floating high above the water here.

Family fun

Acua Waterpark (open April to October) is just a 10 minute walk away and makes for a great day out. There are waterslides of varying heights, plus a wave machine and a jacuzzi too. It also has a crazy golf course and a bowling alley, so kids will have plenty of entertainment options. A few minutes further on foot is a small fun park with rides and trampolines.

Places of interest

Not to be missed are the incredible shifting sand dunes that form the Parque Natural de Corralejo. They are one of the most visited attractions on the island and it's easy to see why. From the villa, take a 10 minute drive and park up before exploring these fascinating dunes on foot. For a change of pace, you could visit one of the neighbouring islands, such as Lobos. Head to El Puertito, a laid back fishing village with a restaurant and small beach. The ferry crossing takes just 15 minutes.

The closest to the villa is Mirador de Lobos, a small pitch and putt course just a 5 minute drive away. Alternatively, a more established course is Fueteventura Golf, an 18 hole course approximately 45 minutes' drive south.

Other activities

Those in search of a little culture may appreciate Antigua. As one of the oldest villages on the island, it contains some interesting architecture such as the traditional church which is open to visitors. You'll also find a museum here that tells you all about the delicious local goat's cheese called Majorera.

Every villa comes with its own manual, complete with details of the best restaurants, taxis, local amenities and activities. And of course, our reps are on hand to make sure you love your holiday more. If you need any advice or tips on the local area, they will be more than happy to help.

Antigua Village

The present population of Antigua is around 3000 and the total area is 250

The picturesque church of Cruz de los Caldos, that dominates the town, was built in 1785 and stands amongst well kept trees and shrubbery. The church is usually open to the general public in the mornings and sometimes during the afternoons. Next to the church is the beautiful village square which is filled with flowers all year round.

Fuerteventura's former capital Betancuria lies in a picturesque valley next to a dried up stream which flowed up until the 16th century. Founded in 1405 by the Norman conqueror Jean de Bethencourt (hence the name), Betancuria has a great deal of history behind it. The reason for its location was to protect the capital from pirate attacks, although in 1593 the pirate Jaban penetrated the village and reduced everything, including the Santa Maria church, to a pile of rubble and ash. The church was not rebuilt until 1691.

Betancuria was capital for quite some time until the local people started moving away from the town due to lack of arable land. In 1834, Betancuria bowed down and handed the honor over to La Oliva (who then handed over to Puerto de Cabras known today as Puerto Del Rosario).

The Centro Insular de Artesania, next to the museum, documents traditional arts and crafts - if you want to see some local handicraft this is the place to come! Make a visit to the Casa Santa Maria where you can watch local artists at work and even purchase some of the hand made products from the quaint local shop.

Corralejo Golf Course
The Corralejo Golf Course was officially opened on the 8th June 2009. This 9-hole course is set on high ground towards the outskirts of Corralejo town, next to the Bahia Azul resort villas and ‘Mirador de Lobos Golf’.

There are plenty of challenges to be encountered over its 673 metres, even for the more accomplished golfer, with three holes affected by water and others require very accurate hitting from tee to green.

With views both to the sea and the dunes of the Parque Natural, and boasting its own fresh-water lake, this well-maintained course is designed to provide pleasure for both the novice and seasoned player alike. The perfect place to spend a couple of hours on a round of golf, or just to become familiar with the game and meet new friends.
