The open plan lounge and dining area is decorated in a sunny yellow colour, with patio doors keeping the villa bright and airy, opening onto the pool terrace. There's a comfortable seating around with a flat screen TV, as well as a table and chairs. The adjacent kitchen has typical wooden units with traditional Menorcan tiles and is well-equipped. Plus, there's a breakfast table for your morning tea or coffee and an adjoining utility room for extra storage.

Villa Location
Son Parc is an easy-going resort with a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. It's famed not only for its stunning sandy beach, but also for its golf course, the only one on the entire island. The centre of the resort, 5 minutes' drive away, has a handful of shops and restaurants, and there's also a good beach bar by the seafront, too. You'll be within easy driving distance of the nearby towns of Arenal den Castell, Fornells and Alaior, all offering their own mix of restaurants and bars.

Location features

Local markets and shopping

Son Parc has a mini markets for daily essentials, plus a gift shop in the centre. The nearby town of Es Mercadal or the capital, Mahon, are both within a short drive and have greater shopping opportunities, with many chic shops and a lively market to browse.

Bars and restaurants

Son Parc has a handful of cafes and restaurants in the centre as well as by the beach. The resort has a very relaxed atmosphere, but if you fancy a change of scenery, the more established neighbouring resorts of Arenal den Castell and Fornells have a greater selection of shops and eateries, some serving freshly caught fish.

The resort is well-known for its beautiful sandy bay, rumoured to be one of the best on the island. The soft white sand is backed by rolling dunes and pine woods, and there are viewing points on the cliffs at either side of the bay where you can take some great photos. The water is shallow and clear making the area a popular choice with families, and you can take a break from the heat at the beachside restaurant and enjoy a bite to eat.

Family fun

There are several fun family activities within a short drive. Kids will love the Lloc de Menorca Zoo, 30 minutes away, and there are also 3 waterparks on the island, the nearest being a 40 minute drive south, in Biniancolla. Closer to home is Fornells Town, which is known for its great choice of water sport facilities.

Places of interest

The position of Son Parc, midway along the North Coast of Menorca, means that anywhere on the island is easily accessible within 50 minutes' drive. The capital, Mahon, is well worth a visit. It's full of chic shops and great restaurants, and the harbour - the second largest natural harbour in the world - is one of Menorca's best-known attractions. The former historic capital of Ciutadella is also well worth seeing, the harbourside restaurants here get one of the best views of the sunset on the entire island. Or, why not venture up Monte Toro, Menorca's highest point? There's a good café where you can enjoy wonderful panoramic views of the island over lunch, as well as a great gift shop.

Son Parc is home to the islands' only golf course, less than 10 minutes' drive from Villa Marino. The course has recently been extended to 18 holes, and it also has a driving range, tennis courts and a great clubhouse with a large dining terrace overlooking the fairway.

Activities and things to do
Golf Son Parc
There is only one golf course on the island, set amongst the pine trees in Son Parc, on the North coast. It has recently been extended from 9 holes to 18 and is open 365 days per year.
There is an 18 bay floodlit driving range with the latest technology - Swingcam.
Junior golfers are welcome if accompanied by an adult and the golf shop stocks equipment for purchase or hire for children of 5 years upwards.
The dress code is lenient - shorts, t-shirts and trainers are acceptable but NOT sleeveless vests, swimwear, flipflops etc.

If golf plays an important part of your holiday then it is wise to book in advance.
Scuba Diving
With its underwater caves and coral encrusted rock formations, Menorca is recognised as one of the most spectacular diving locations in the Med. for scuba diving and snorkelling. Dive schools located around the island provide daily excursions and equipment for visiting qualified divers.
For the beginner - now is your chance - the qualified instructors can have you scuba diving in less than 2 hours! Parascending is now made easy with modern techniques of launch and recovery from the boats' platform - there's no need to even get wet! The not so adventurous are normally allowed, for a small fee, to ride along in the boat.
Monte Toro
El Toro, at 360 metres above sea level, is the highest peak on Menorca. In the centre of the island it towers above the small town of Es Mercadal. Take the time to drive up the steep 3.2km climb to the summit and see the whole of the island spread out beneath you. There are sea views on all four sides and, on a clear day, the view stretches to the north coast of Mallorca.
The mountain is crowned by a convent which has become an important centre of pilgrimage and the neat vegetable and herb gardens beneath the terraces are still tended to by the community of nuns who live there. Visit the tiny chapel or have lunch in the rustic café and browse around the shop, packed with souvenirs and local produce.
Lloc de Menorca Zoo
Lloc de Menorca Zoo, located on the main road from Mahon to Alaior, is sure to be a hit with the kids! The zoo has a range of creatures from farm animals to more exotic zoo animals and children will also be able to pet some of the farm animals.

The zoo also has a small splash pool, 2 museums, a picnic area, snack bar and a gift shop.
Mahon and Harbour
If you like shopping on holiday it’s well worth navigating the maze of narrow streets in the historic centre of Mahon lined with stylish boutiques and designer stores as well as interesting independent shops selling leather and pottery. If you love markets, don’t miss the Mercat Claustre del Carme, just off Plaça d'Espanya. The cloisters of a former convent have been imaginatively converted into a market and shopping centre where the locals shop for fruit and vegetables, clothes for the whole family, meat and ceramics, flowers and lingerie, sheet music and chocolate - you name it! The Fish Market also in Plaça Espanya is fascinating and can be challenging if you are planning a fish supper at the villa! When you are all shopped out cakes and ice cream at one of the many pavement cafes are highly recommended.
