Sant Lluis

Villas in Sant Lluis Resort

Sant Lluis sits in the Spanish countryside, around 9 kilometres from Mahon, the island’s capital. The pace of life here is slow and relaxed, well-suited to anyone wanting to experience authentic rural Menorcan life. You can explore the streets lined with restaurants, cafes, bars, bakeries and ice cream shops and visit the folklore museum inside a restored wind mill. By holidaying in a Sant Lluis villa, you’re also in the perfect position to discover what Menorca has to offer. A short drive in one direction and you’ll find the popular zoo and island’s highest point, Monte Toro. In the opposite direction are the beachside resorts of Binibeca and Punta Prima. Of course, the island’s capital Mahon, is full of exciting things to do and see, including the harbour which is the second deepest in the world!

Exploring Sant Lluis On Villa Holidays

Sant Lluis has a fishmonger and several mini markets if you plan to cook or BBQ at your villa. There are also several supermarkets on the outskirts of town for general grocery shopping. The nearby capital of Mahon also has a bi-weekly gypsy market and a daily fresh market selling fruit, vegetables and meat in the cloisters of the hilltop church, overlooking the harbour.

Sant Lluis offers a variety of restaurants, from pizzerias and tapas bars to quality fine dining, plus a wide choice of bars and pavement cafes. On the edge of town is a vineyard with a bar and boutique restaurant offering tours and tastings. Restaurants with a sea view can be found in Punta Prima and Binibeca, as well as Mahon. Es Castell is within driving distance too and has a beautiful area by the harbour called Cales Fonts. It is the ideal setting for a memorable meal watching the sun set over the water.

The well-known resorts of Punta Prima and Binibeca are a 10 to 15 minute drive from Sant Lluis. Both have beaches of fine, white sand and sunbeds and parasols are available for hire during the summer months. Binibeca has a rustic style beach bar with quality wines and simple tapas if you want a break from the sun. For a more active day, you can try paddle boarding, kayaking or take a boat trip from Punta Prima. The coastal town of S’Algar is also nearby and has great water diving opportunities.

Splash water park is located on the South East Coast, just 10 minutes’ drive from Sant Lluis, and offers fun for all of the family. Children will love the popular Lloc de Menorca Zoo, 20 minutes away by car. From Mahon, you can take a glass bottomed boat trip which is a great way to explore the coastline and see some of the local wildlife.

Mahon harbour is busy and bustling, it’s a pleasure to sit at one of the many waterside cafes and restaurants and watch the boats arrive and leave while you enjoy some of the local cuisine. The town also has a famous gin factory where you can taste some before perhaps buying a bottle to bring home.  Further afield you can visit the island's highest point, Monte Toro. The views from the peak are spectacular, and there is also a good gift shop and restaurant. Walkers and cyclists can follow the Cami de Cavalls bridlepath along the coast for spectacular views and to find hidden coves.
