Villa Samuel is a lovely 3 bedroom detached property set in the resort of Sa Caleta, just 10 minutes' walk from the nearest beach in Sa Caleta. Ciutadella, the ancient capital, is north of the property with an array of shops, bars and restaurants. The villa itself has a bright and airy feel with its own private pool and garden - the perfect place to spend lazy days. Pool heating, WiFi and air conditioning/heating in the bedrooms and lounge is included.

Villa Description

Swimming pool, BBQ area and outside space

A private pool surrounded by a tiled terrace for sunbathing sits in the garden with a palm tree providing some shade - the perfect place to relax with a good book. A brick BBQ is adjacent to a shaded alfresco dining area - ideal for cooking some tasty meals.

Entrance

The entrance is via a lane to the side of the villa. There is a traditional olive gated driveway for one hire car should you choose to rent a vehicle. A path through the garden leads to the front door.

Living space

The brightly decorated open plan lounge and dining area creates a sociable space where you can relax with the whole family. The inside of the villa is kept light due to patio doors that open onto the pool terrace.

Kitchen

A breakfast bar separates the traditionally furnished kitchen from the rest of the living space and you'll find everything you need. A window from the kitchen overlooks the pool terrace. The washing machine is in a cupboard outside.

Bedrooms and bathrooms

On the ground floor, directly off the main hallway there is a bright twin bedroom with access to a separate blue and white tiled bathroom. On the first floor there is another brightly decorated twin bedroom and a double bedroom, both with sliding doors opening onto a shared balcony overlooking the pool - what better place to relax in the evening with a glass of wine?

Villa Location

Villa Samuel is located in Sa Caleta, 10 minutes' walk from the sandy Sa Caleta cove. A 20 minute stroll along the coastline will bring you to the picturesque sandy inlet of Santandria. The ancient capital Ciutadella, with its restaurants, bars and shops, is just 10 minutes' drive away. Or, the popular resorts of Cala Blanca and Calan Bosch are just a short drive down the coast, with an even greater choice of eateries and shops as well as sandy beaches. Our villa Benjamin is on the same road, perfect for larger groups wanting seperate accomodation.

Local markets and shopping

There is a small mini market and souvenir shop within Sa Caleta, perfect for topping up on daily essentials, or there is a larger supermarket a short drive away. Ciutadella has interesting boutique and artisan stores as well as a market held twice a week in the main square.

Bars and restaurants

Head into Ciutadella and enjoy tapas or sea food from one of the eateries overlooking the harbour. Cala Blanca is where you'll find the most evening entertainment, as well as an array of bars and restaurants. Overlooking the beach, Cala Blanca is the perfect spot for a light lunch but also popular when the sun goes down.

Beaches

Sa Caleta is the nearest beach, accessible via steps down to the sand, with snack bars on hand allowing you to relax on the beach all day. 15 minutes' walk takes you to Playa Grande beach by Ciutadella. 10 minutes' drive south along the coast is the pretty Santandria Bay, a popular snorkelling location. Calm waters and water chutes make Cala Blanca beach popular with families, and has several large cafes, bars and restaurants for lunch or dinner. For more excitement, water sport facilities are available from Son Xoriguer Beach in Calan Bosch.

Family fun

If you're looking for more adrenaline head to one of the islands 2 waterparks, Aquacentre in Calan Forcat, 15 minutes' drive away, and Aquarock in Calan Bosch. Children will love the popular Lloc de Menorca Zoo, close to Alaior 30 minutes' drive away, with plenty of native as well as exotic species of fauna.

Places of interest

The popular resort of Calan Bosch, 10 minutes' drive away, has plenty of shops along with many bars and restaurants overlooking the marina. 45 minutes' drive to the other side of Menorca is the capital, Mahon. Here you can organise boats trips from the pretty, natural harbour, and the main town has a wonderful choice of shops and bars. Alternatively, drive 40 minutes' to Monte Toro, a spectacular viewpoint overlooking the whole island. At the top, there is a church, gift shop and café selling delicious local pastries.

Golf

The only golf course on the island is in the resort of Son Parc on the north coast, approximately a 50 minute drive away.

Other places of interest

Menorca has a fabulous walking and cycling route called the Cami de Cavalls, an old bridle path which circumnavigates the whole of the island. This coastal walk showcases some of the islands most stunning scenery. Castillo Menorca, along the main road towards road towards Alaior, also makes for a great day out with an adventure and waterpark, go-karting track and large retail outlet with a restaurant, 15 minutes' drive away.

Activities and things to do

Go-Karts

There are several go-kart tracks on the island offering different courses and facilities to suit all ages and levels.

Castillo Menorca, on the road from Ferreries to Cuitadella, also has a great go-karting track as well as an adult and childrens pool, waterslide, trampolines, childrens play area, shopping complex and restaurant.

Or try the go-kart track at Aquarock Waterpark.

Scuba Diving

With its underwater caves and coral encrusted rock formations, Menorca is recognised as one of the most spectacular diving locations in the Med. for scuba diving and snorkelling. Dive schools located around the island provide daily excursions and equipment for visiting qualified divers.
For the beginner - now is your chance - the qualified instructors can have you scuba diving in less than 2 hours! Parascending is now made easy with modern techniques of launch and recovery from the boats' platform - there's no need to even get wet! The not so adventurous are normally allowed, for a small fee, to ride along in the boat.

Castillo Menorca

Castillo Menorca, located on the main road between Ferreries and Cuitadella, has an adults pool with a water slide and a childrens pool, as well as mini golf, trampolines, a childrens play area, a shopping complex selling leather goods, jewellery, ceramics and gifts, a snack bar and a fantastic go-karting track! WiFi is also available.

In addition to the above, several resorts also have water slides or splash pools, the largest being in Son Bou. Smaller slides for younger children can be found in Cala Galdana and Cala Blanca.

Bouncy Castles

Some of the resorts on the island have bouncy castles and trampolines which are very popular with younger children. Aqua Centre and Park Aire in Calan Forcat all have bouncy castles and inflatables while the Coves Noves Complex in Arenal Den Castell has a inflatables, bouncy slides, mini golf and go-karting!

Lloc de Menorca Zoo

Lloc de Menorca Zoo, located on the main road from Mahon to Alaior, is sure to be a hit with the kids! The zoo has a range of creatures from farm animals to more exotic zoo animals and children will also be able to pet some of the farm animals.

The zoo also has a small splash pool, 2 museums, a picnic area, snack bar and a gift shop.

Mini Golf

A firm favourite with the kids, there are several, well kept courses around the island.

Castillo Menorca, just outside of Ciutadella, has a great mini golf course as well as various pools, shops, childrens entertainment and a restaurant.

All the courses have a cafe or restaurant adjacent where parents can relax and keep a watchful eye. The resorts of Santo Tomas, Cala Blanca and Cala Galdana all have mini golf facilities as well as Goody Goody Park in Calan Bosch.

Watersports

Menorca is definitely the place to be for anyone wanting to experience watersports on their villa holiday! Professional centres with modern teaching techniques and equipment to hire make it all so easy, even for beginners. Menorca's prevalent winds and summers breezes provide perfect conditions for windsurfing or sailing and diving is also very popular with a great deal of sea life and underwaters caves to be explored!|Some of the main beach resorts have windsurf boards and small sailing dinghys but Fornells, on the North coast of the island, in particular, is home to some of the best windsurfing and sailing facilities in Europe.

Monte Toro

El Toro, at 360 metres above sea level, is the highest peak on Menorca. In the centre of the island it towers above the small town of Es Mercadal. Take the time to drive up the steep 3.2km climb to the summit and see the whole of the island spread out beneath you. There are sea views on all four sides and, on a clear day, the view stretches to the north coast of Mallorca.
The mountain is crowned by a convent which has become an important centre of pilgrimage and the neat vegetable and herb gardens beneath the terraces are still tended to by the community of nuns who live there. Visit the tiny chapel or have lunch in the rustic café and browse around the shop, packed with souvenirs and local produce.

Golf Son Parc

There is only one golf course on the island, set amongst the pine trees in Son Parc, on the North coast. It has recently been extended from 9 holes to 18 and is open 365 days per year.
There is an 18 bay floodlit driving range with the latest technology - Swingcam.
Junior golfers are welcome if accompanied by an adult and the golf shop stocks equipment for purchase or hire for children of 5 years upwards.
The dress code is lenient - shorts, t-shirts and trainers are acceptable but NOT sleeveless vests, swimwear, flipflops etc.

If golf plays an important part of your holiday then it is wise to book in advance.

Aqua Rock Waterpark

Aquarock Park by Calan Bosch Marina is a great place for older children offering a go-kart track, trampolines and a large swimming pool with waterslides.
