You can experience the hustle and bustle of the traditional Spanish markets in the surrounding local towns, great for picking up some local produce for the BBQ or souvenirs to take home.

Bars and restaurants

You will find a great choice of restaurants along the river front, offering everything from freshly caught seafood to international options. Why not enjoy a delicious paella while admiring the sea views?

Cala Galdana, or as its otherwise known "Queen of the Coves", is Menorca's most photographed beach. A wide expanse of fine sand and shallow waters surrounded by high cliffs complete this idyllic spot. Backed by a promenade dotted with beach bars, you'll have everything needed for a day on the beach. If you prefer a change of scenery, visit the neighbouring, more remote beach of Cala Mitjana, 10 minutes' drive away or 40 minutes on foot.

Enjoy an evening of entertainment at one of the 2 spectacular horse shows, both situated on the main road into Cala Galdana. Further afield, there are a choice of waterparks and a go-kart track within a 30 minute drive -a great family day out.

Places of interests

Be sure to check out the viewpoint on the other side of the bay, a great spot to capture the beauty of Cala Galdana Beach. Head to Mahon, the island's capital with its beautiful harbour and shops, less than an hour drive away. Or, closer to home, why not visit Ciutadella? The ancient capital, with cobbled alleyways and atmospheric old buildings, it makes for a wonderful day trip.

The islands only golf course is located in Son Parc on the north coast, approximately 30 minutes' drive away.

Other activities

Menorca has a spectacular walking and cycling route, the Cami de Cavalls which circles the islands. Sections of this can be easily reached from Cala Galdana walk to the secluded beaches of Macarella or Cala Mitjana through the pine forest. Ideal for nature lovers.

Activities and things to do
Golf Son Parc
There is only one golf course on the island, set amongst the pine trees in Son Parc, on the North coast. It has recently been extended from 9 holes to 18 and is open 365 days per year.
There is an 18 bay floodlit driving range with the latest technology - Swingcam.
Junior golfers are welcome if accompanied by an adult and the golf shop stocks equipment for purchase or hire for children of 5 years upwards.
The dress code is lenient - shorts, t-shirts and trainers are acceptable but NOT sleeveless vests, swimwear, flipflops etc.

If golf plays an important part of your holiday then it is wise to book in advance.
Aqua Center Waterpark
There are 3 water parks on the island, 2 on the West coast and one on the East coast of the island.

Aqua Center Waterpark in Calan Forcat is the largest of the islands 3 waterparks. There is a go-kart track as well as a swimming pool and waterslides, and a games arcade with a covered eating area.

Lloc de Menorca Zoo
Lloc de Menorca Zoo, located on the main road from Mahon to Alaior, is sure to be a hit with the kids! The zoo has a range of creatures from farm animals to more exotic zoo animals and children will also be able to pet some of the farm animals.

The zoo also has a small splash pool, 2 museums, a picnic area, snack bar and a gift shop.
Ciutadella and Harbour
A Catalan city, almost untouched by outside influence, the old capital city of Ciutadella has an aura of beauty and charm. The nobility and the Church stayed behind when the capital was moved to Mahon, leaving this stylish city with a maze of narrow streets fanning out from the islands' only Cathedral, adorned with Gothic palaces and old, elegant archways.

A visit to this very special city is a must, to wander through the centre or to relax in Plaza D'Es Born - known as the finest square in the Balearics. The square is dominated by the Town Hall, peppered with palm trees and home to a variety of chic. The "gypsy" market fills the square on Fridays and Saturdays, adding a touch of colour and revery.
Small but intriguing shops are plentiful but time should be allowed to admire the architechture, the aged stone buildings and cobbled, arched streets.

From the Plaza D'Es Born one can stroll down the winding street to the port - a narrow inlet, packed with attractive waterfront cafes and restaurants. Small, colourful stalls abound, selling their wares - souvenirs, scarves, jewellery - are always bustling. Sit and watch the endless movement of the port with the private yachts, tiny sailing boats and larger passenger ferries, to-ing and fro-ing between Menorca and Mallorca.
Mahon and Harbour
If you like shopping on holiday it’s well worth navigating the maze of narrow streets in the historic centre of Mahon lined with stylish boutiques and designer stores as well as interesting independent shops selling leather and pottery. If you love markets, don’t miss the Mercat Claustre del Carme, just off Plaça d'Espanya. The cloisters of a former convent have been imaginatively converted into a market and shopping centre where the locals shop for fruit and vegetables, clothes for the whole family, meat and ceramics, flowers and lingerie, sheet music and chocolate - you name it! The Fish Market also in Plaça Espanya is fascinating and can be challenging if you are planning a fish supper at the villa! When you are all shopped out cakes and ice cream at one of the many pavement cafes are highly recommended.
