Villa Location
Villa Rafalet is in a detached property in a secluded countryside position, with spectacular views of the surrounding mountain tops. Less than 15 minutes' drive takes you to the old town of Pollensa, with a maze of cobbled streets lined with quaint shops and traditional restaurants offering a great atmosphere day and night. Beach lovers won't have far to travel either within a 20 minute drive you'll be at the stunning Puerto Pollensa Beach which has a long stretch of soft sand and crystal clear waters. The adjacent chic marina has ample choice of local restaurants and tapas bars. Impressive yachts moor at Puerto Pollensa marina in the summer and its beautiful Pine Walk is a favourite stroll before or after dinner around the crescent shaped bay.

Location features

Local markets and shopping

The traditional market in Pollensa old town is on a Sunday with authentic stalls and handmade crafts. Puerto Pollensa also has a weekly market on a Wednesday, which gives you the opportunity to purchase fresh produce and artisan trinkets typical of the north of the island. Further afield, is the old town of Alcudia which has market on Tuesdays and Sundays, where you can buy some local trinkets and artisan products to remember your Majorcan holiday.

Bars and restaurants

The old town of Pollensa is only a 15 minute drive from the villa, with many chic brasseries and bars lining the cobbled streets. Why not join the locals for the menu of the day. Puerto Pollensa is just a short drive away with plenty of seafood and local restaurants available to enjoy. You can dine on the seafront overlooking the fishermen's boats in the harbour where fresh fish is caught daily. A little further drive away is the Roman walled town of Alcudia which has plenty to offer with charming local eateries and tapas bars featured in the ancient streets of this historic town.

The large half-moon shaped sandy bay of Puerto Pollensa beckons and has all the facilities you need to enjoy a lazy day on the beach. Sunbeds and parasols are available for hire, so that you can admire the stunning coastline while enjoying the warm Mediterranean waters. Beach bars, known locally as 'chirunguitos', have become popular in Puerto Pollensa and they offer shade from the sun, providing a place to sip sundowners at the end of your day unwinding at the beach. The beaches of Mal Pas, Cala San Vicente and Manresa are all also just a short drive away.

Family fun

The Port of Pollensa offers plenty of boat excursions, with glass bottomed boats and catamarans awaiting to sail you out on the beautiful Mediterranean waters. For those who are adventurous, there is also scuba diving, sailing lessons and jet skis, or for gentler pursuits you can enjoy the pedalos and cycling along the promenade too. Hidropark Alcudia is around a 20 minutes' drive away, with a number of water-based rides and activities for all ages. The nearby lake has a wake park, or you can visit the horse-riding centre on the main street and the go-karting track.

Places of interest

The old town of Pollensa, with its 365 Calvary steps up to the small church perched at the top of the town, is a great local trip to make. Equally a trip to La Victoria monastery affords spectacular views of the Tramuntana mountains and coastline. Why not enjoy drinking the local wines in the vineyards themselves with plenty of bodegas to choose from in the local area? The city of Palma is a beautiful city where you can visit historic sites such as the Gothic cathedral, the artist Miro's gallery or Bellver Castle. In the east of the island, visit the Caves of Drach, which house Europe's largest underground lake.

The golf clubs of Pollensa and Aucanada, with their spectacular views of the distant coastline, are a must for all golf enthusiasts and are a short drive from the villa. Both have a club house with restaurants where you can dine and sip on a crisp glass of wine after a pleasant day on the green!

Other activities

Bird watching in the S'Albufera park, paragliding and hiking in the Tramuntanas are all available to try in and around the vicinity. Cycling is also popular with plenty of hire shops providing all you require to get out and discover the island on 2 wheels.

Activities and things to do
Go Karting, Alcudia
All children (and adults too) can enjoy racing around the track and pretending to be Lewis Hamilton or Jensen Button. Try your hand at this exciting sport at Karting Mania in Puerto Alcudia.

La Victoria Monastery
The former hermitage 'Ermita de La Victoria' lies on the peninsula of Alcudia, completely in the north of Majorca, in an idyllic, untouched mountain landscape. Far away from mass tourism, in privileged setting, you have from the Ermita an enchanting view of the 'Cap de Formentor' and the bay of Puerto Pollenca. Next to smaller walks one can undertake from here an amount of excursions (on foot, with the mountain bike or by a rental car). Not far from the Ermita (approx. 500 metres downhill) is the small beach of S'Illot. This nice hidden bath bay is used only by the visitors of the peninsula.

Windsurfing/Water Skiing
Windsurfers and pedal boats are available for hire at most of the bigger resorts.
There are sailing schools at several of the larger resorts and often it is possible to hire equipment without tuition.

Beaches where windsurfing is available include Cala Millor, Cala d'Or, Can Picafort, Formentor, Magaluf, Palma Nova, Peguera, Platja de Palma, Port d'Alcudia, Port de Pollensa, Port de Soller, Portals and Santa Ponsa.

Water skiing equipment can be hired on the major beaches including Puerto Pollenca, Cala Millor, Can Picafort, Formentor, Magalluf, Palma Nova, Peguera, Platja de Palma, Port d'Alcudia and Santa Ponsa.
Local Boat Trips
There are quite a few different types of boat trips that sail off the local beaches to various destinations on the East coast including Starfish glass bottom boats, Dolphin Catamarans and Sea Rider speed boat trips.
Golf Alcanada
Two essential requirements for the creation of a good golf course are a spectacular setting and a first rate architect. Both exist here in Alcanada, Alcudia. The designers are the legendary architects Robert Trent Jones Senior and Robert Trent Jones Junior.

The virgin terrain, gently sloping down towards the shoreline, with pine, olive and oak trees, offer marvellous views of the island of Alcanada with the lighthouse in the foreground and the mountains of the Sierra de Levante in the background.
