Villa Description
Swimming pool, BBQ area and outside space

The highlight of Villa S'Algar is undoubtedly its magnificent garden and swimming pool. The house is surrounded on all sides by a spacious lawn, which has panoramic views over the Mediterranean Sea. Facing the water are 2 separate covered dining areas and there is also a brick BBQ and built-in seating by the poolside.

The villa also has a pleasant roof top terrace from which you can admire the view along the coast in either direction.

Entrance

At the front of the villa is a private parking area for 1 car, with more space to be found on the street. Two exotic palm trees welcome you, leading to the large open lawn. A path and a few steps lead up to the entrance. As you enter the front door, you come to an internal, central courtyard with arches on all sides, leading to all parts of the villa.

Living space

The open plan lounge and dining area each has a set of large patio doors framing the sea. There is comfortable seating, a flat screen TV and a table and chairs. The fully equipped kitchen is adjacent to the dining area and has access to the terrace at the side of the house, leading to the alfresco eating area and pool.

Bedrooms and bathrooms

Off the lounge is a double bedroom with an en suite shower room and patio doors onto the rear terrace with views of the sea. The remaining bedrooms are all accessed directly from the courtyard. There are 2 twin bedrooms, each with patio doors onto the side terrace, sharing a separate shower room. The final twin bedroom has a dressing area with an en suite shower and a large one way mirror window overlooking the pool (so you can see out but no one can see in), plus a WC.

Air conditioning/heating

In line with local energy saving initiatives, the villa has timed air conditioning on all units from 17:30 to 19:30 and from 22:00 to 09:00.

Villa Location
The location of Villa S'Algar could not be better! The house sits right on the seafront in the Cala Serena area of Cala D'or. Within a short walk you'll have a choice of 2 excellent beaches, as well as a few small shops and restaurants. You can catch the road train or drive into the centre of Cala D'or, to the marina or any of the resorts 5 alternative beaches.



Location features

Local markets and shopping

The nearby area of Cala Ferrera has a small choice of shops. Any of the other areas within the resort, as well as Cala D'or centre and marina can be reached on the Cala D'or Express road train - getting out and about couldn't be easier! Keen shoppers should head to either Santanyi or Felanitx, which are both around 25 minutes' drive from Cala D'or. Here you'll find a traditional Majorcan market with stalls offering locally made clothes, jewellery and lace as well as fresh fruit and vegetables.

Bars and restaurants

Cala Ferrera also has a few quaint cafes and restaurants to visit. However, the pedestrianised centre of Cala D'or has a huge choice of bars and places to eat. Plus, you can either drive or catch the road train to the marina which is lined with several fashionable bistros where seafood is unsurprisingly popular.

Beaches

There are 2 good beaches within a short walk of Villa S'Algar. The nearest is Cala Serena, a small but picturesque sandy cove. The slightly larger beach of Cala Ferrera is slightly further on, around 15 minutes' walk away. However, Cala D'or has 7 pleasant beaches in total, all within a 1 mile radius and easily reachable by road train.

Family fun

Aside from the beaches, kids will love the nearby safari zoo, Cala Millor, around 45 minutes' drive around the coast. You can also take a trip into Palma where you'll find an aquarium and a couple of good waterparks.

Places of interest

The centre and marina of Cala D'or are both certainly worth seeing during your time in Majorca (Mallorca). If you do decide to hire a car, Palma - the island's only city and capital - makes a great day trip. It has a huge choice of shops and restaurants as well as the beautiful gothic cathedral, the marina, an art gallery, castle and a lively nightlife scene!

Golf

The nearest golf club, Golf Val D'or, is around 4½ miles north.

Tennis
A number of hotels will allow non residents to play, subject to a local fee and availability. There are a number of tennis clubs around the island, including Puerto Pollenca, Alcudia and Cala D'or.

Several tennis courts in the Cala D'or area and the "Porto Cari" apartments at the port also have courts. You will find more courts both in "Es Forti and Cala Serena". Courts get busy so we therefore recommend booking in advance.

Auto-Safari, Cala Milor
Majorca's only zoo consists of a 4km drive through open countryside, passing giraffes, zebra, flamingos and deer (keep your car windows shut against marauding monkeys), followed by a 'baby zoo' with elephants, crocodiles and various young animals. You can also explore the 44 hectare reserve by a special 'mini-train'.

Golf Vall D'Or
Vall D'Or is situated in the municipality of Felanitx only 2 miles from Porto Colom and 4½ miles from Cala D'Or, two of the most beautiful spots on Mallorca's eastern coast. It is a pretty course and offers visitors a friendly welcome.

This villa has been designed to maximise the fabulous 180 degree seascapes. It could work just as well as a romantic getaway for two or family retreat for eight. The four of us thoroughly enjoyed our holiday. The area was very quiet, but within reasonable walking distance to the town centre and its lovely restaurants and bars. The pool area got the sun from dawn to dusk and the veranda was perfect for enjoying the shade and the cool sea breeze. Perfect!
