Villa location

In a fantastic position right by the Albufera Nature Reserve, Villa Arcos Sol has fantastic views across the countryside towards the Tramuntana Mountains. Close by is the small residential community of Bacares, as well as kite surfing and scuba diving facilities. The Roman ruins of Alcudia Old Town, the marina and the centre of Alcudia itself are all within easy reach and offer a diverse choice of shops and places to eat. A little further afield is the popular resort of Puerto Pollensa (Puerto Pollenca) which has a beautiful beach, a stylish marina and a whole host of facilities and attractions.

Location features

Local markets and shopping

Both Alcudia and Puerto Pollensa have weekly markets, ideal for keen shoppers, which give the opportunity to purchase local produce and artisan trinkets typical of the north of the island. The more traditional market in Pollensa Old Town on a Sunday, is authentic and a fine opportunity to mix with the locals.

Bars and restaurants

The centre, marina and old town of Alcudia all offer a huge and diverse range of places to eat. The old town can be reached on foot and offers a number of charming local eateries, boutique hotels with dining terraces and tapas bars featured amongst the cobbled ancient streets and Roman ruins. All bars and restaurants welcome children and the local eateries have a relaxed approach which adds to this easy going dining experience.

This Majorcan villa is a short distance from the sea with activities such as kite surfing and paddle boarding at your fingertips. Alcudia Beach has sunbeds and parasols for hire for a chilled out day spent relaxing by the sea. The nearby coves of Mal Pas and Cala San Vicente are within easy reach by car if you fancy a change of scenery. Around a 15 minute drive north is the crescent shaped bay of Puerto Pollensa which is lined with restaurants and beach bars - a great daytrip for any beach lover!

Family fun

Nearby Alcudia has its own waterpark, the equestrian centre for horse-riding as well as a large Go-Karting track! In the marina you will find the opportunity for boat excursions, with glass bottomed boats and catamarans available - a great way to explore this area of stunning coastline. You can also hire pedaloes and bicycles, whilst Puerto Pollensa has scuba diving, sailing and jet ski facilities.

Places of interest

Majorca (Mallorca) has a number of attractions and places to visit. On the east of the island are the Caves of Drac which house Europe's largest underground lake. Other Balearic highlights include the stunning views from La Victoria Monastery, the 365 steps to the Calvary Church in Pollensa Old Town, and the Gothic cathedral, Miro's Gallery or Bellver Castle in Palma.

The golf clubs of Pollensa and Aucanada, with their stunning views of the coastline, are a must for all golf enthusiasts and are a short drive from the villa.

Other activities

Villa Arcos Sol is ideally situated to enjoy bird watching in the Albufera Park - the villa itself is situated within sight of the migratory birds which make Majorca their home when flocking to cooler climes for the summer. Thrill-seeker can also find paragliding facilities and hiking trails in the Tramuntana Mountains.

Every villa comes with its own manual, complete with details of the best restaurants, taxis, local amenities and activities. And of course, our reps are on hand to make sure you love your holiday more. If you need any advice or tips on the local area, they will be more than happy to help.

Golf Alcanada

La Victoria Monastery

The former hermitage 'Ermita de La Victoria' lies on the peninsula of Alcudia, completely in the north of Majorca, in an idyllic, untouched mountain landscape. Far away from mass tourism, in privileged setting, you have from the Ermita an enchanting view of the 'Cap de Formentor' and the bay of Puerto Pollenca. Next to smaller walks one can undertake from here an amount of excursions (on foot, with the mountain bike or by a rental car). Not far from the Ermita (approx. 500 metres downhill) is the small beach of S'Illot. This nice hidden bath bay is used only by the visitors of the peninsula.

The Caves of Drach

These are the most famous tourist attractions on the island of Majorca. They are also known as Dragon Caves due to the fact that the dragon features in many Majorcan fairytales and is believed to be a symbol of strength and a defence against intruders.

There are three chambers inside the caves, Cueva Negra (Black Cave), Cueva Blanca (White Cave) and Cueva Luis Salvator (Luis Salvator Cave). Today, visitors can take a boat ride on the lake and see the beautiful limestone formations, including stalagmites protruding from the rock-face and stalactites hanging down from the roof of the cave.

As part of their journey underground, they are accompanied by the sound of musicians performing classical music, including compositions by Chopin, every hour on a boat.
