Prazeres

Holiday Villas in Prazeres Resort

Prazeres is a small community east of Calheta, which has a modest village centre including a church. The dwellings and villas are spread out across the picturesque landscape whilst the countryside around Prazeres is peaceful and stunning. Not to mention the incredible sea views that can be viewed from several viewpoints. Our villas in Prazeres with private pools can be found on the outskirts of this beautiful rural village. Should you grow tired of relaxing by your private pool, which may be never, the island of Madeira has some incredible natural beauty spots to visit. Many of which are within easy reach of Prazeres. Along the coast is Cabo Girao, the second highest sea cliff in the world, it has a sturdy glass platform with dizzying views down to the sea.

Exploring Prazeres Villa Holidays

In Prazeres you'll find a few small mini markets often doubling as snack bars where you can purchase essentials. A larger supermarket can be found at Calheta Beach, a 15 minute drive away. On Sundays a small farmer’s market can be found beside the church, with locally grown fruit and vegetables on offer. Further afield is the city of Funchal where you will find a plethora of shops as well as the Mercardo dos Lavradores (Farmer’s Market) selling all kinds of colourful and exotic fruit, the majority of which are grown on the island.

There are a handful of restaurants and bars dotted around the countryside in Prazeres, mostly serving simple, local meals. For a selection of restaurants in one place head to Calheta Beach, just a 10 minute drive away, where there are several fantastic eateries overlooking the beach or the marina. Alternatively head to Paul do Mar, around 20 minutes’ drive away, there are a handful of delicious restaurants as well as the lovely Maktub pub with beautiful sea views.

Calheta Beach is located about 8 kilometres along the coast from Prazeres and has two separate man-made sandy beaches and a stretch of cafes and restaurants, it's a great place to spend a relaxing day. In the north of the island, around an hour away, is the black sand beach of Seixal, with its dramatic scenery it’s one of the most beautiful spots on the island.

In the heart of Prazeres, why not visit the small farm and education centre? Here you can learn about regional plants, traditional recipes and see the animals. On the northwest coast of the island is the beautiful Porto Moniz, about a 40 minute drive away, it's home to natural swimming pools made up of volcanic rock. Theses stunning saltwater pools also have a children’s pool and a play area, a great day out for families. Whilst in Porto Moniz be sure to visit the aquarium as well with 12 tanks showcasing the marine wildlife indigenous to the waters around Madeira.  For those that love the ocean, there are several fantastic boat tours that leave from Funchal Harbour, a 45 minute drive. Not only can you hope to see dolphins and whales but one of the boats is a pirate ship!

For the more active members of your group, Prazeres is around 14 kilometres drive to the start of one of the best Levada walks in Madeira. Levada das 25 Fontes is an incredible walk showcasing some of the most beautiful flora and fauna of the island culminating at an impressive waterfall. Around 45 minutes’ drive from the villa is the only city in Madeira and the capital, Funchal.
