At the eastern end is the Ria Formosa Natural Park, a tidal lagoon fringed by stunning remote beaches only accessible on foot or by boat. In Quinta do Lago centre you might spot a few celebrities in the designer boutiques, gourmet restaurants or nightclub. Many of them are attracted by Quinto do Lago’s 4 world class golf courses and beautiful scenery.

Exploring Quinta do Lago On Villa Holidays

For your villa grocery shopping, Almancil is a thriving little town with a good range of shops and supermarkets just a 5 minutes' drive from Quinta do Lago. Loule's daily market is also worth a visit for local produce and perhaps some souvenirs. For a little retail therapy, try Quinta do Lago's fashionable Plaza Buganvilia and Vale do Lobo's famous Praca.

There are lots of restaurants to choose from scattered across the resort of Quinta do Lago. You might want a casual lunch with a sea view, a family pizza evening or a romantic fine dining experience. By the lake is an upmarket restaurant with breathtaking views of the Ria Formosa Natural Park where you can dine on fresh seafood, handpicked each morning from the local markets. If you enjoy a cocktail at sunset, the beach bars on Vale do Garrao have live music and a party atmosphere in summer.

The lovely golden sands of the beach at Quinta do Lago stretch all along the coast to Vale do Lobo, excellent for sunbathing and ideal for families. The sandstone cliffs provide a beautiful backdrop and the beach has not only a Blue Flag, but also Gold Flag status. There is a restaurant serving freshly caught fish, right on the beach. If the mood takes you, you can charter a yacht or venture out on a deep-sea fishing trip. Praia do Garrao is another of the many consecutive beaches and fabulous sands that stretch for miles along the coast here.

If you like to stay active on holiday, Quinta do Lago has tennis and padel courts. For a memorable family day out, Aquashow waterpark is a 20 minute drive away and has all the slides and flumes you need to keep the whole family entertained. Almancil has a go karting track if you want to find out who is the best driver in your family!

At the eastern end of Praia da Quinta do Lago beach is the Ria Formosa Nature Park. This is one of the last unspoilt coastal zones in Europe and home to numerous indigenous bird and animals. The visitor centre will help guide you on a walking route or arrange a boat tour to see this fascinating area.

Faro's historic old town and marina is only 25 minutes’ drive from Quinta do Lago. You can discover its historic past including the cathedral and city walls before a relaxed lunch overlooking the marina. To delve a little deeper into its history, perhaps visit the archaeological museum and the Convent of Our Lady.
