Holiday Villas in Quinta do Lago Resort

Founded in 1972, Quinta do Lago is one of the points of the Golden Triangle, with Vale do Lobo and Vilamoura together forming one of the most prestigious areas to live in Portugal. It is a very exclusive resort boarded on one side by the Atlantic and on another by the lush rolling hills of the Ria Formosa Natural Park. Vale do Lobo, just ten years older, with its two glorious, 18-hole championship golf courses is five minutes down the road from the villas. Not to be outdone, Quinta do Lago has four courses, and the first Portuguese Open took place here in 1976.

Golf is at the heart of Quinta do Lago but there is a lot more to it than that. For example, a spectacular beach accessible only by crossing a picturesque wooden bridge over the tidal lagoon, a man-made lake offering an impressive range of water sports, striking and spectacular villas, some owned by superstars, an upmarket shopping centre that is designer heaven for shopaholics as well as having a supermarket and pharmacy, exceptional gourmet restaurants, cafes and bars and fantastic wildlife with rare species of fauna and flora. Add to this list spectacular scenery and a superb climate, and you will understand the appeal of a villa holiday at this amazing place!

Exploring Quinta do Lago On Villa Holidays

Quinta do Lago, just a 20 minute drive from Faro Airport, is an exclusive, man-made golf and residential estate with a strong sense of community. Set in 2,000 acres of rolling hills and pine woodlands, it offers magnificent golf courses, grand villas, lakes, sandy beaches and the stunning wildlife and fauna of the Ria Formosa Natural Park.

There are lots of places to eat at Quinta do Lago, from casual to fine dining. There is a beach bar to grab a sandwich or cocktail, and a lakeside café/bar for the cool crowd. Also by the lake is an upmarket restaurant where you can enjoy breathtaking views of the Ria Formosa whilst enjoying fresh seafood, handpicked each morning from the local markets. Another popular restaurant has a wood burning grill and rotisserie, and you can also find inspirational French cuisine and regional flavours - and even healthy salads.

Quinta do Lago is golf heaven and the villas are near the courses! It has hosted the Portuguese Open Championship eight times in addition to hundreds of national and international prestigious tournaments. Quinta do Lago also boasts one of the finest practice facilities in Europe, with a state of the art driving range. There are putting greens, pro-shops and clubhouses with large and informal terraces, and a golf academy.

The lovely golden sands of the beach at Quinta do Lago stretch all along the coast to Vale do Lobo. You get to the beach by crossing a long wooden bridge over an estuary in the Ria Formosa Nature Park – don’t forget your camera! This park is one of the last unspoilt coastal zones in Europe that was established as a 'Nature Reserve' with UNESCO protected status in 1987.

The sandstone cliffs provide a beautiful backdrop to the wonderful sandy beach which is excellent for sunbathing and ideal for families. It is super-clean, and has not only a Blue Flag, but also Gold Flag status (awarded to beaches able to demonstrate high water quality for five consecutive years.) There is a restaurant serving freshly caught fish, right on the beach. If the mood takes you, you can charter a yacht or venture out on a deep-sea fishing trip.
