If you are looking for a relaxed holiday Falesia is a great choice. It has a few restaurants, bars and shops but the highlight has to be its expansive beach that stretches for miles – which is why the area is known by the locals as ‘beach town’.
Local markets and shopping
Shopping is low key in Falesia, although there is a small square with a choice of souvenir shops, and a supermarket for stocking up on those holiday essentials. A local produce market in nearby Olhos D’Agua is open every morning Monday to Saturday and you can pick up some goodies to take back to your villa for a BBQ. For some serious retail therapy, head to Algarve Shopping, a large commercial centre in Guia, 20 minutes’ drive away.
Bars and restaurants
Falesia Beach has some superb beach restaurants, plus there is a choice of bars and places to eat in the small square in Falesia. For a larger selection, the nearby villages of Acoteias, which is less than 10 minutes’ walk away and Olhos D'Agua just a short drive away offer seafront restaurants and a few bars. For livelier entertainment, Albufeira and Praia D’Oura are within easy reach.
Falesia Beach is extensive, running along the coast for almost 4 miles from Vilamoura in the west all the way to Olhos D’Agua in the east. It’s backed by rust-coloured sandstone cliffs, dotted with pine trees and accessed by steps that lead down from the clifftop car park. The clear waters are ideal for snorkelling and you’ll also find sun loungers and beach bars so you can easily spend a relaxing day.
Falesia is a great choice for those looking for a relaxing break, it’s easy to spend hours building sand castles on the fabulous beach or simply sunbathing. There are plenty of tennis and walking options in the area, too, as well as a grass running track for those that like to keep fit. If you are feeling energetic it is possible to walk from Falesia Beach to Vilamoura along the golden sands. For a great family day out, children will love Zoomarine oceanarium, dolphin and sea lion show, which is around 30 minutes’ drive away in Guia.
