Villa Location
Villa Mediterranea is a detached property with a fabulous countryside setting, located just 15 minutes' drive from 2 enchanting towns. The historic 'White City' of Ostuni is steeped in history, with wonderful cafes and restaurants plus some great shops. In the opposite direction, Ceglie Messapica has narrow paved streets, a lively piazza and a great weekly market. You'll have a good base to explore the rest of the Valle D'Itria and the beautiful countryside, dotted with olive trees and trullis. Our villa Trullo Grazia is nearby.

Location features

Local markets and shopping

In Ostuni, just at the edge of the historical centre, there is a great shopping area with clothing, shoes, jewellery and bags. There is also a large market held every Saturday in both Ostuni and Ceglie Messapica, with lots of fresh food, vegetables, fruit and nuts - straight from the local farms and smallholdings. For your daily essentials, the nearest supermarket is just 15 minutes' drive away.

Bars and restaurants

Ceglie Messapica is well known throughout Puglia for its restaurants, osteria and bars. The main square, Piazza Plebiscito, is surrounded by restaurants serving authentic Italian cuisine. Alternatively, the historic centre of Ostuni has plenty of bars and pizzerias, some offering outdoor dining. If you love seafood then you'll find the best fresh menus on the Adriatic coast. Head to Villanova, harbour town with good fish restaurants around 20 minutes' drive from your villa.

Beaches

The Puglian coastline and beaches are renowned for their beauty and crystal-clear waters. You can either visit one of the private beach clubs where sunbeds are available for hire or explore the small coves which have limited facilities but plenty of charm. Villanova has a wide, sandy public beach with some sunbeds for hire.

Family fun

Get on board the Ape Calessino, a three-wheeled light vehicle whisking you through the narrow winding lanes of Ostuni - great fun for the whole family. At the Torre Guaceto National Park, 40 minutes' away, you can hire snorkelling equipment or bikes to see the area in depth and at a leisurely pace. Or 45 minutes' drive you take you to AcquaPark Egnazia, which has plenty of waterslides for everyone to enjoy.

Places of interest

Ostuni is full of history and well worth a visit. The historic centre has lots of churches, but the 15th century cathedral dominates the town. In the main square, Piazza della Liberta, you'll also find the 20 metre column with the statue of Saint Oronzo, the town's patron saint at the top. A festival is held in his honour every August. Ceglie Messapica, with its white painted alleys and cobbled streets, is also a charming place to visit. The town has a great reputation for food and every August it holds an annual food festival.

Golf

The San Domenico Golf Course is the most famous course in Puglia, and is only 45 minutes 'drive from your villa.

Other places of interest

Alberobello town is a UNESO World Heritage Site and famed for its trulli houses. Wander the pedestrianised cobbled streets and stop for lunch at one of the little cafes.
