Villa Description
Swimming pool, pool terrace and sunbathing area

The large private pool takes centre stage and is surrounded by sun loungers on which you can relax overlooking the picturesque countryside and olive groves. The poolside pergola will provide respite from the sun while the additional covered seating area in the garden is a great spot to watch the sun setting. The main outdoor dining area with a BBQ is on the extensive ground floor terrace which extends round to the side of the villa, where there is a further seating area.

The approach to the villa is down a narrow country lane which must be considered when selecting your hire car and opt for a small to medium category. Once inside the gated entrance there is plenty of car parking space to one side. The front door opens into the lounge.

Living space

The open plan living area is traditionally furnished with comfortable seating, an ornamental fire place and flat screen TV. The limestone high, barrel vaulted ceiling adds character to the room and makes it bright. There are 2 doors providing access to the extensive terrace, where there are steps down to the pool. A fully equipped kitchen with a dining table and chairs is one to side through an archway.

Bedrooms and bathrooms

There are 3 homely bedrooms in the main house - 1 double, as well as 2 twins, one of which has an en shower, whilst the other two share a separate bathroom with a shower cubicle. The remaining bedroom, 1 double with en suite shower room, is in the annexe which is accessed at pool level down 4 steps.

Villa Location
This countryside villa is located in Pico San Donato, 10 minutes' drive from Cisternino - home of the famous barbecuing butchers which transform into restaurants every evening. It is a small, charming old town with whitewashed houses, historic churches and an elegant central piazza. If you wish to explore more of Puglia, the historic towns of Ceglie Messapica and Martina Franca are within 20 minutes' drive, both with more opportunities for dining out and viewing fine architecture.

Location features

Local markets and shopping

There is a supermarket for your holiday essentials within 10 minutes' drive. Most of the towns in the area hold a weekly market, where you can pick up the supplies for your holiday cooking and perhaps some gifts to take home. The one in Cisternino takes place every Monday selling local produce, seasonal vegetables, fruit, clothing, cheese and meat. However, the largest market in the area takes place in Martina Franca on a Wednesday morning.

Bars and restaurants

The Piazza Vittorio Emanuele is the heart of the old quarter of Cisternino, 10 minutes' drive away, and a delightful place to pause for an ice cream or drink, sit in the sun and watch the world go by. Not to be missed are the famous barbecuing butchers where you simply select your various meats, take a seat with your wine, whilst it's cooked then served to you.

Or, perhaps take a trip to Martina Franca, the largest town in the area, where you can roam around the old town, entered through a grand Baroque called the Porto Santo Stefano, visit the impressive church of San Martino or sample one of the restaurants. Before leaving Martina Franca, you must try the pride of the town, capocollo, a kind of cured ham.

Head to Torre Canne Beach which has shallow aquamarine water with a public section at the southern end and gentle sand dunes. Or there's Rosa Marina Beach located near the town of Ostuni, which has clear sea, dunes and Mediterranean vegetation. Both beaches are around 35 minutes' drive away.

Family fun

For a family day out, Acquapark Egnazia, close to Monopoli and Zoosafari Fasanolandia, a safari park and theme park, are around 40 minutes' drive from the villa. There is also horse riding available at the Centro Ippico Parco di Mare in Fasana, within 30 minutes' drive.

Places of interest

Well worth a visit is Ostuni which is dubbed 'the White City' with its network of narrow lanes winding through whitewashed buildings, past prestigious palaces and churches, and opening into piazzas. There are plenty of gift shops where you a pick up the odd souvenir too.
Alternatively, the amous town of Alberobello has over 1,400 trulli and is a great place to stroll around with its narrow pedestrianised streets, discovering little shops selling local produce and finding a café or restaurant where you can try some Pugliese cuisine. Both Ostuni and Alberobello are around 30 minutes' drive from Villa Mandorle.

For a round of golf, try the course San Domenica in Fasano, around 40 minutes' away.
Other activities

The Grotte di Castellana are one of the natural wonders of Puglia, where you can undertake a full tour around the caves lasting for around 2 hours.

Every villa comes with its own manual, complete with details of the best restaurants, taxis, local amenities and activities. And of course, our reps are on hand to make sure you love your holiday more. If you need any advice or tips on the local area, they will be more than happy to help.
