Puglia is full of interesting and characterful towns that are definitely worth a visit. Discover the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Alberobello with over 1,400 trulli houses or visit the ‘White City’ of Ostuni. Explore the charming town of Locorotondo and don't miss the city of Lecce. With so many places to see, you may struggle to fit everything in!

Situated in the heart of Puglia, the Valle d’Itria’s beautiful countryside consists of hilly landscapes, olive groves, vineyards and fruit orchards. There are lots of walking routes to explore stunning scenery and views. Or if you’re feeling active why not rent bikes and pack a picnic?

The limestone of Puglia has been worn away for 100,000 years creating caves and grottoes across the region, many of which have been turned into churches and visitor attractions. Grotte di Castellana is by far the largest of the grottoes in Puglia, with a network of nearly 2 miles. Children will also love the Dinosaur Park, where they can walk amongst the life-sized models, and the Indiana Park where they can try their hand at ziplining!

Acquapark Egnazia offers a fun choice of water slides, a lazy river and 2 pools for playing and splashing. The jungle themed children’s pool is great for the little ones with jets, mini slides and a climbing area. You can also hire sun beds and umbrellas to relax in the sunshine.

Close to the town of Fasano, there is a popular theme park, Fasanolandia is an amusement park with over 25 exciting rides. Next door you'll find Zoo Safari, a drive-through zoo with over 200 different species living in wide natural spaces. It’s a fun excursion for family members of all ages.

If you’re feeling active why not visit Ciuchino Birichino Adventure Park, located just outside Ostuni? Set up in the trees you’ll find an intricate maze of suspended walkways, rope bridges and zip lines. You can also try your hand at archery, climbing, orienteering and mountain biking. With nearly 200 acres of woodland and meadows there are lots of activities on offer to keep everyone entertained.

For a fun day out be sure to visit Carrisiland Resort, an exciting amusement/water park filled with rides and entertainment. Race down the waterslides or chill out in the wave pool. Children will love the splash area as well as the live themed shows. There is also a small petting zoo with a variety of farm animals, plus a fun train to take you to the different zones of the park.   

Located in Taranto, the Jonian Dolphin Conservation offer fantastic boat trips to watch the dolphins in their natural habitat. Learn about the conservation efforts and become a ‘Researcher for the day’ where you’ll record your sightings, photograph the dolphins and listen to the dolphins communicate. Reward your hard work with a delicious Puglian lunch before heading back to shore.

There is a small beach in the centre of Monopoli close to the city walls. Stroll through the historical centre, around the harbour with colourful fishing boats to the castle. There are a few restaurants along the sea front and plenty in the old town from contemporary bars to traditional trattorias. North of the town, there are simple, local beaches with limited facilities so you might want to bring your own picnic.

At the mouth of a rocky gorge, surrounded by cliffs that people like to dive from into the clear, deep sea, Polignano a Mare beach has a stunning setting. There are several restaurants overlooking it which specialise in seafood. Pass through a gateway into the old town and stroll around the maze of streets until you come to the viewing point over looking the beach and sea caves, a perfect photo spot.

A combination of port and holiday resort, Savelletri is a popular spot for a day out. Head to the harbour where you can take a stroll around and admire the pleasure and fishing boats. There are plenty of fish restaurants or just enjoy a chilled wine or "gelato" and sit in the sun. Up and down the coast, bathing areas can be found, just park where you see a spot. You may also visit one of the local lidos where you can hire sun loungers and parasols and use the snack bar.

On the coast, south of Carovigno and to the north of Brindisi, you’ll find Torre Guaceto National Park, renowned for its dunes and sandy beaches. You can hire snorkelling equipment or bikes to see the area in depth and at a leisurely pace.

On the coast close to Ostuni, Villanova has several beaches in and around the town including a wide sandy public beach which slopes gently in the sea with some sun beds are available for hire. There are also upmarket beach resorts where you can hire a sunbed for the day and use the onsite restaurant. To the north and south of the town are simple coves and bays with limited or no facilities.

Torre Canne is home to beautiful long stretch of golden sand and clear, shallow waters. This picturesque Blue Flag beach is surrounded by sand dunes and olive trees and is popular with families. You’ll find ice cream shops and restaurants nearby, ideal for a lunch with a sea view, and there is also a local market held in the evenings.

Torre Santa Sabina is home to a collection of natural sandy beaches, rocky coves and more upmarket beach clubs. The seafront is lined with restaurants, cafes and plenty of gelaterias for that all-important ice cream. The Spiaggia Della Mezzaluna beach club has calm waters and soft, white sand with sun loungers to hire as well as a bar offering a light lunch service. Or, head to Isoletta, a natural rocky inlet with bathing platforms – there are no facilities here so be sure to take a picnic.  

The stunning Blue Flag Torre dell’Orso beach is a ½ mile stretch of fine sand and crystal-clear waters. This sheltered cove is flanked by cliffs and takes its name from the 16th century Torre dell’Orso (the tower of the bear) set on the clifftop. Look out to see and you’ll find the landmark white limestone rocks called Le Due Sorelle (the 2 sisters). The beach consists of a selection of beach clubs as well as stretches of free beach where you can just throw your towel down and relax with a picnic.
