Villa Location
Villa Artemis Springs is well-located, 10 minutes' drive from the beachside resort of Kolymbia, and 40 minutes from both Lindos and Rhodes Town. Kolymbia has a choice of restaurants in the centre, as well as a lovely long sandy bay with a couple of beach bars. The alternative beaches of Tsambika and Stegna, as well as Tsambika Monastery, are a short drive south. Just along the road is one of Rhodes' most beautiful attractions, the Seven Springs Waterfalls, which are well worth visiting, too.

Location features

Local markets and shopping

The nearest shop is just 5 minutes' drive away, ideal for daily essentials, with a couple more supermarkets and gift shops in Kolymbia. Around 4 miles inland is Archipoli, a traditional Greek village with a few tavernas, a small supermarket and petrol station. The larger villages of Afandou and Archangelos are within easy reach too, where you'll find a pharmacy, bank, post office and several small family-run shops.

Bars and restaurants

There are 2 traditional Greek tavernas within a 5 minute drive, or head into Kolymbia which has a greater choice of cafes and restaurants, where fresh, locally caught seafood is particularly popular. If you fancy a change of scenery or want to venture a little further afield, there are plenty of places to eat and drink in both Lindos and Rhodes Town.

Kolymbia Beach is popular with sunbathers, swimmers, snorkelers and water sport enthusiasts. With shallow water and great visibility, the sea is also a great spot for scuba diving. Further along the coast, heading south, are the beaches of Tsambika and Stegna. You'll find a good choice of restaurants along the seafront at Stegna, whereas Tsambika has no amenities so remember to pack a picnic!

Family fun

Just outside Archipoli is Rhodes Toy Museum, where adults can embrace nostalgia and relive their childhood, and children can learn about toys of the past. Another fun-filled family day out might include sailing the seas on a mini cruise, departing from the small jetty in Kolymbia, stopping at Agathi, Red Sand Bay, Tsambika, St Pauls Bay and Lindos!

Places of interest

There are plenty of attractions and things to see and do in the surrounding areas. The beautiful Seven Springs Waterfalls are only a few minutes' drive up the road, and are well worth visiting, particularly on a hot day when the 7 springs and shady trees will keep you nice and cool. The springs flow through a valley to a central point, creating a small lake which has fish, crabs and tortoises where you can swim. Or, you can also enjoy a leisurely stroll along the forest trails.

A 10 minute drive south will take you to Tsambika's famous monastery. The steps to the top are not for the faint-hearted, but the views from the monastery are certainly worth the climb.

You must also visit both Rhodes Town and Lindos, which are less than 40 minutes' drive away. Rhodes Old Town is a maze of cobbled streets packed full of history, as well as craft shops, bars and tavernas. From Lindos, why not take a donkey ride up to the Ancient Acropolis? You'll also find many shops and places to eat in the town.

Rhodes only golf course, Afandou, is around 15 minutes' drive away, located along the main highway connecting Rhodes Town to Lindos. It has a full 18 holes and is open all year round.

Other activities

Archipoli Village also has a Folklore Museum as well as a couple of traditional grill houses and snack bars, for an enjoyable day out. The Monastery of St Nektarios Agios is also nearby. Near the bell tower there are several holy springs with healing water. Next to the temple is a sycamore completely hollow inside, and a small coffee shop, where you can relax and enjoy your tranquil surroundings.

Activities and things to do
Monastery of Tsambika
You will have to walk up the hill, following the 350 steps. On the top of the hill you will find the tiny, Byzantine church, dedicated to Our Lady. It's perched high at 300 m with commanding coastal views, both north over Kolymbia and south over Tsambika beach until Lindos, which makes it worth, to climb up.
Water Sports
Water sports are available on all the popular beaches of Rhodes. So whether you want to take a boat out for the day, go snorkeling, water skiing or fishing it’s easily organized.

Lindos Watersports Operates from the Main Beach in Lindos. Run by Michael-Matthew and Yannis Koufos. They have Water skiing, wake boarding, parascending, banana boat, big Mabel ride, and ringos. They are fully qualified from the British Watersports Federation

One of the best spots is the Water sports Centre in Kiotari. Water sports at its best, with windsurfing, paragliding, Ringos, Banana rides and Pedaloes.

The water park is the largest in Europe located on the Kallithea road just outside in the popular resort of Faliraki. With a designated area for KIDS ONLY they can enjoy the wet bubble, tipping bucket, pirates ship, funny bridge, Tarzan pool and waterslides. For the rest of us there are thrill rides, Multi rides or Take it easy rides such as the wave pool and Lazy River, a great day out for everyone!

Marline Aquarium - Rhodes Town
Children can admire the fish of different species whilst having the impression of being under water. They will see turtles, octopus, reefs, sea flowers, clams and numerous fish. Set on the beach front in Rhodes Town makes it worthy of a quick visit.

Afandou Golf Course
Bay, (22 km from Rhodes Town), on the road from Rhodes Town to Lindos, is home to the only course on Rhodes. Although not a challenging course, it has an atmosphere and feel, it is great for a day out.

This 18-hole, par-73, golf course (6800 yards), has been designed by Britains world famous golf course architect, Donald Harradine.

Opened in May 1973 the 18 holes the course's tactical features are a challenge to good scoring, both for amateurs and professionals.

The trees, fairways, and greens are laid with different grasses selected to keep the course green throughout the year. The Golf Club is open all the year round.

Admission fees are nominal (2011 €20 low/mid-season:€35 high season) and caddies, caddy carts, golf clubs and balls, as well as instructions, are available at moderate hire charges.
