Exploring Kalathos on Villa Holidays

Local Markets and Shopping

There are various shops in the village, including supermarkets, a chemist, a bakery, a couple of snack bars as well as a mini market. Watch how to make traditional ancient Greek pottery and purchase a souvenir to take home from a local ceramic making factory. There is also a leather shop selling hand made clothing and accessories.

Bars and Restaurants

Along the shoreline you will find several good tavernas where you can enjoy fresh fish caught that morning! Try the traditional meze, and Greek dishes such as moussaka and kleftiko made using recipes past down over generations. Cruise down the coast to Lindos if you want a larger choice with anything from 5 course gourmet dining to international cuisine. The New Town of Rhodes is great for a night out with plenty of bars, discos, nightclubs and tavernas.

If you’re looking for rest and relaxation, you’ll be sure to find it down on the shores of the main beach along Kalathos. A long, strip of sand Pallas Beach, south of the village, is popular with locals and has a water sports centre as well as glass bottom boat trips departing from the bay. The picture-perfect cove of St Pauls Bay is just next door with crystal clear turquoise waters – a well worth visit for anyone in Rhodes.

Family Fun

Kalathos is a great choice for families looking for a calm relaxing holiday. Build castles in the sand down at Kalathos Beach or try your hand at some of the water sports also available. Try go-karting in nearby Lardos – perfect for those looking for more excitement and friendly competition. If you’re looking for a family day out, then head to Water Land at Tsambika Beach or the waterpark in Faliraki. Kalathos also has some of the best diving sites in Greece and home to PADI approved centres where you can learn to scuba dive and snorkel.
