Villa Location
A 20 minute drive from Rhodes Town, along the West Coast, is Ialyssos and our Villa Paleos Hillside, which is tucked behind the old village of Trianda, at the foot of Filerimos Hill. If you fancy a game of tennis, there is a private Tennis Club just 10 minutes' stroll away. The old village has all the amenities we've come to expect, including a traditional Grill House and a selection of coffee and cake shops. What's more, the avenue leading to the beach is lined with restaurants, cafeterias and snack bars.

Location features

Local markets and shopping

Trianda Village has a good variety of local produce, including a family butcher, grocer, baker and cake shop. Plus, as you drive down the tree-lined avenue towards the beach there are a couple of family owned boutique clothes shops and a couple of lovely shoe shops. For some serious shopping, cosmopolitan Rhodes Town is a must.

Bars and restaurants

Just 20 minutes' walk from the villa takes you to a delightful taverna, which is open all year round and a firm favourite with the locals. As you make your way towards the main coastal road and to the sea there is an abundance of restaurants serving Greek, Sushi, Chinese and Italian cuisines. Alternatively, for something a little more special try 'Le Gourmet' in the neighbouring resort of Ixia. Perhaps, for a livelier affair, check out the cocktail, sports, and beach bars - Ialyssos really has it all. Another option for the young and young at heart is Rhodes town, Orfanidou Street, where the disco clubs open until the early hours.

There are quite a few windsurfing and kiting schools along the coastline of Ialyssos and Trianda is no exception. The beaches on the shoreline are pebble, but once in the gorgeous blue sea, its sandy under foot. With or without a surfboard, the Aegean waves are always a lot of fun! Sunbeds and umbrellas are available for hire too. The beach stretches around the bay to neighbouring Ixia, backed by hotels, bars and restaurants before reaching the northern tip of Rhodes Town, 20 minutes' drive from the villa.

Family fun

Rodini Park is said to be one of the oldest in the world, built by the Romans, with shady trees, streams and ponds, all perfect for exploring, or simply some time out. You will love Rhodes Aquarium - get up close and personal close with marine life including reefs, sea flowers, octopuses and lots of fish! Boat trips sail from Mandraki Harbour daily, plus there are short trips around the harbour, or south to Lindos on a glass bottom boat. You can even island hop to Symi. There are a couple of cinema halls, the most popular being the Thrones of Helios, a must do when in Rhodes Town. Hop on and off the red double decker bus all day long to get a good idea of the lay of the land. The waterpark is located on the East Coast near Faliraki, 25 minutes' drive away.

Places of interest

Filerimos Hill is an important site named after a monk in the 13th Century, where once stood the Acropolis of Ialyssos. The church and old monastery remains are waiting to be explored. There is a pathway dotted with icons leading to an imposing cross standing 16 meters high, and from here you can take in the views. Visit ancient Kamiros for archaeology and history, one of the three ancient cities of the island (Ialyssos, Lindos and Kamiros).

Rhodes Old Town is the oldest inhabited medieval town in Europe with Medieval buildings, mosques, traditional fountains, oriental motifs, Byzantine and Gothic churches, shops and cafeterias scattered within the castle walls. Monte Smith, a hill named after the British admiral Sir William Sidney Smith, offers a splendid panorama of the city of Rhodes. From here, far from the hustle and bustle, you can see the town of Rhodes spread out below. On the slopes of the hill itself are the ruins of the Hellenistic Acropolis of Rhodes which includes the Temple of Apollo and an ancient stadium.

Afandou Golf Course, located along the main Rhodes-Lindos highway, an 18-hole, par 73 course, is open all year round.

Other activities

Within 10 minutes' stroll from the villa there is a private tennis club with three courts available to hire. There are plenty of unspoilt villages on Rhodes and many in the mountains, untouched by tourism but accessible on foot. You can take your car out to a point, then walk through these villages, enjoying a drink/meal in the taverna for an authentic experience. Alternatively, let someone else do the driving and join the 4x4 Jeep safari adventure to enjoy the aerial views, history, fun, wine tasting and bumpy Rhodes! Mountain bike tours, hiking days and sailing are also easy to organise.

Villa Paleos Hillside Customer Reviews

Zara Caldwell, 15-Sep-2018

Villa Paleos Hillside was clean and modern with fantastic facilities. The table tennis table and pool were used every day and provided lots of fun! Unfortunately, we were unable to use the pool table due to the position in which it was located. Where it was placed was extremely windy and whenever we tried to play the balls just blew straight into the pockets, which wasn't ideal!! The villa is in a great location and everywhere on the island is within easy reach by car. It was great having access to Netflix and Amazon prime as well as a DVD player.
