Villa Location
Neighbour to Villa Sandy Cove, this charming 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom villa is ideal for small or large groups wanting a relaxing holiday, stunning scenery and a great location close to Spartia beach and village. Below the villas is a sheltered sandy beach and small harbour with fishing boats and 2 good tavernas, all easily accessible within a few minutes by car. The unsoilt village of Spartia has a sea-faring history as well as a village shop and mini market and a small choice of tavernas. For anyone wanting to enjoy some of the local culture, nearby are the Castle of St George, the Mazarakata tombs and St Andreas monastery. The capital of Argostoli is 20 minutes away by car and is also well worth a visit providing the opportunity for shopping and sampling more of the local lifestyle.

Location features

The nearest beach is at Spartia itself, only a few minutes away by car, with a parking area and an expanse of fine sand very popular with the locals. To the left of the beach is a small jetty and harbour where local fishermen moor their boats and large turtles can often be seen swimming in the bay.
The neighbouring resorts of Lourdas and Livathos are also within easy reach by car and have a choice of fantastic sandy beaches to explore.

Places to visit

Livathos also has a choice of shops and places to eat and the nearby capital of Argostoli is definitely worth a visit. There is a greater choice of traditional and contemporary shops to explore, as well as a number of bakeries and tavernas. It also offers an opportunity to buy fresh fish from the local fishing boats which bring their catch into the harbour every morning, closely followed by large Loggerhead turtles looking for scraps.
The resort of Lourdas is a little further along the coast and offers boat hire as well as water ski and jet ski facilities in high season.
Continue along the coast to the small resort of Katelios with its waterside fish tavernas, Mounda bay, the nesting ground for the Caretta-Caretta turtles, and the popular resort of Skala.
A drive across the mountains to Sami on the east coast is a must if only for the spectacular scenery, as is a visit to the natural phenomenon that is Melisanni, the lake in the cave. Or visit Mount Ainos, although not for the faint hearted, which provides dramatic views of the unspoilt beauty of Kefalonia.
For anyone wanting to enjoy something more cultural, close by is the beautiful Monastery of St. Gerasimos, the Patron Saint of the island, and the Robola wine co-operative.

Activities and things to do
Kefalonia Robola Wine
The Robola wine cooperative winery is located at Kefalonia Island, Ionian Islands, and western Greece. More specific at the plateau of the Community of Omala, in an altitude of 700 metres, in the slopes of the gorgeous and green full Ainos Mountain

In Kefalonia the unique wine, Robola, is grown and produced. A harmonious white wine of high quality, it is one of the most well known wines in Greece (Hellas). Its wonderful balanced taste, strong note and unique white colour are just a few of the qualities which have established its reputation world-wide.The cultivation of this particular grape is known to be really hard work on the slopes of Mountain Ainos, where the soil is poor and stony, and vineyards can be found as high as 800 m.

The winery is open from 9am to 8.30 pm and is well worth a visit.
Mount Ainos National Park
In 1962 Mount Ainos was declared a National Park by the Greek state. The forested area of the range now covers an area of 2826 hectares. The larger part of Mount Ainos is given over exclusively to the unique Kefalonia pine (Abies cephalonica), with its straight trunk, its rich pyramid-shaped foliage and its characteristic pine needles. The species retains its purity on Kefalonia since it is protected by the isolation of the island. The highest mountain on Kefalonia, Ainos, extends like a spinal cord through the southern part of island. It has a total length of 10 km and its highest peak is Mount Soros, at 1628m. Mount Roudi is an extension of this range to the north-west, the highest peak being Yioutari, which rises to 1125m.
Agios Gerasimos Monastery
Agios Gerasimos is the patron saint of the island. On its feast day, the monastery is swarming with pilgrims. According to tradition, he was born in Trikala of Korinthia and was a member of the famous Notaras family. He became a monk and spent twelve years in the Holy Land and five years in Zakynthos. He came to Kefalonia in 1560 and stayed in the cave of the same name, south of Argostoli.

Later, he founded the monastery and took residence there until his death on 15 August, 1579. Two years later, on 20 October, 1581, his relics were placed inside the monastery. He was canonized in 1622. At the courtyard, there is a big plane tree and a well, which is said to have been dug by the saint himself. Inside, there is a trap-door where he is said to have spent the greater part of his life. On the 15th of August and the 20th of October, big festivals and processions take place. Many miracles are connected to the saint's relics and icon.
Scuba Diving
There are places in Lassi, Agia Efimia, Argostoli and Fiskardo that offer an opportunity to scuba dive and our representative will be able to give more information.

Glass Bottom Boat
Based in the Southern resort of Skala, "Nautilus" is a specially constructed boat of high standards. Due to these high standards there is little movement in the boat, which is absolutely necessary because of the glass bottom. The possibility to watch the seabed, to view the rocky coast or to cruise the Ionian Sea waters at a speed of up to 30 knots, feeling the breeze and the sea very close will ensure a pleasant cruise.

Villa Secret Cove Customer Reviews

Claire Hart, 18-Aug-2015

Good size Villa, we went with our two teenage boys and there was plenty of room, it would be fine if there was a party of six. The Villa was wonderful set in a very quiet and private location surrounded by olive groves, back drop of the mountains and fantastic sea views from all around the Villa. You could not get a better positioned Villa, because it was at the end of a narrow lane you had no passing noise from people or cars, total tranquillity. We would rebook this Villa. Great location for taverners, shops and sight seeing. Airport 30 minutes away. You will not be disappointed with this Villa or the Island of Kefalonia which was brilliant and beautiful.
