Villa Location
Villa Ireni Fiskardo is a detached property set on the hillside above the small hamlet of Katsarata. Its hillside position offers superb views over the surrounding countryside and across the Ionian Sea. The nearby village of Maganos is just 5 minutes' drive away, with a mini market and a couple of tavernas. 15 minutes' drive will take you to Fiskardo, with its selection of cafes, bars, restaurants, picturesque beaches and lively harbour.

Location features

Local markets and shopping

The nearest mini market is just 5 minutes' drive away, in the small village of Maganos. For even more selection head to Fiskardo, with several small supermarkets, a bakery and an ATM. You'll also find some small gift shops, great for picking up some souvenirs to take home.

Bars and restaurants

There are a couple of local tavernas in Maganos, serving traditional Greek cuisine. Or head to Fiskardo, with a beautiful harbour lined with restaurants and cafes. Grab a cool drink and admire the luxury yachts. The food in the busy tavernas tends to be classic Greek fare, but there is always some great seafood on the menu as well.

Beaches in the area tend to be small and pebbly, with beautiful clear, calm water - great for snorkelling! Alaties and Agios Jerusalem are both around 15 minutes' drive to the west. Foki Bay, a pretty cove surrounded by olive and pine trees, is 15 minutes' drive to the east and has a great taverna.

Family fun

Activities in Kefalonia tend to focus on the water, and who can blame them with the beautiful coastline? You can organise local boat trips, or even hire your own for a day at sea.

Places of interest

Fiskardo is well worth a visit. Unlike the rest of Kefalonia, Fiskardo was virtually untouched by the 1953 earthquake and retains many of its original buildings. Life centres around the harbour, where local fishing boats moor next to expensive visiting yachts. Or why not take a trip to Assos Castle, 30 minutes' away, with fabulous views of Myrtos Bay?

Other places of interest

Further afield, the capital of the island, Argostoli, is around an hours' drive away. A modern harbour town, there are some great gift and clothes shops, as well as a fruit and vegetable market where you can pick up some local produce.

Activities and things to do
Fiskardo has an exceptionally pretty harbour where traditional Kefalonian fishing boats moor alongside the luxury yachts of the wealthy summer visitors. If you are up early enough you can buy the catch of the day - but hey, you’re on holiday! So just find yourself a bar or café and settle down with your rather expensive drink to watch the beautiful people at play – hours of fun, and you might well spot an A-list celebrity or two, it’s that kind of place. Allegedly Demi Moore and Jon Bon Jovi have been seen here and apparently Roman Abramovich parks his yacht in the harbour. The food in the busy, family-run tavernas that line the waterfront tends to be classic Greek fare such as lamb kleftiko and stifado, and of course there is always fresh fish on the menu.
Scuba Diving
There are places in Lassi, Agia Efimia, Argostoli and Fiskardo that offer an opportunity to scuba dive and our representative will be able to give more information.

Assos Castle
The castle (Kastro) of Assos, the focal point of Assos's peninsula, was built by the Venetians in the late 16th century in order to protect the city from pirate raids. Today, one can still admire part of the walls and the arched entrance gate. In the Castle, one can see the ruins of the Venetian High Commissioner's house, the barracks and the church of Agios Markos.
From here, the view of the sea and the lovely bay of Myrtos is so unique it attracts many tourists.

Argostoli is the main town of this Greek Ionian Island where a large proportion of Kefalonia’s inhabitants live today. Argostoli has been the capital of Kefalonia since 1757 when the political centre was moved here after the former fortified capital, the castle of St George, was damaged by an earthquake.

This harbour town is very much a modern town with most of the former grandeur of the town lost with its buildings in the great earthquake of 1953. Livostroto is the main shopping street of the town, where you can pick up gifts and clothes. The fruit and vegetable market, bakeries and other food shops are found mainly along the harbour front road.

Argostoli has many tavernas in the centre of town, by Valiano Square as well as along the waterfront road. There are several musuems to visit on your villa holiday including the Korgialenio Folklore museum which has traditional Greek clothes and embroidery, as well as many pre-earthquake photographs of Kefalonia (Cephalonia).

Olwen Hudson, 25-May-2014

Having had many similar holidays like this with other companies we were delighted with the representative and the maid Violetta. They made us very welcome and went the extra mile to make us feel at home. We became friends with them and their families. Never have we had such good service.
