Villa Description
Swimming pool, BBQ area and outside space

The dining terrace at the side of the house has fantastic sea views, framed by the Vinglatoura Mountains, and is surrounded by lavender with steps down to the pool - the perfect setting for a traditional Greek dining experience. The private swimming pool is purposefully positioned to take full advantage of the views which extend past the rugged mountainside, down towards the island of Vidos, Corfu Town, and further down the South East coast.

Entrance

Villa Lithari has a private gated driveway for your hire cars with shallow steps up to the entrance. The villa was at one time an olive press, still abundantly apparent from the 'lithari' - or millstone - outside, and there is a table under the front porch fashioned from a once working part, an ideal spot for a morning coffee in the shade.

Living space

There is a spacious living area which is of a traditional open plan, split level design. The fully equipped kitchen is on the right, the dining table and chairs on the left, and a comfortable lounge area, WC and what is left of the original olive press at the far end. A door from the lounge opens onto the exterior dining area at the side of the villa, which has steps down to the private swimming pool at the rear. There is a second seating area with a built-in corner seating area adjacent to the BBQ terrace on the lower floor.

Bedrooms and bathrooms

Off of the lounge is a twin bedroom and a double bedroom, each with its own en suite bathroom. The double bedroom has a traditional wooden ceiling with exposed rafters and views out over the pool towards the sea. The twin bedroom adjacent is decorated in a similar style. The second twin bedroom is on this lower level, with patio doors onto the pool terrace and an adjacent bathroom.

Villa Location
Villa Lithari is perched on the hillside of Vinglatoura with spectacular views over the mountains and along the East coast of the island, towards the sea. Only a short drive away from some of the most beautiful coves and beaches in Corfu, this villa is close to the Greek holiday resort of Nissaki, its harbour, beach and a selection of shops and restaurants.

Location features

Local markets and shopping

Nissaki has a small but good selection of gift shops to browse, as well as mini markets where you can pick up some fresh produce to take home and cook up on your very own BBQ. The nearby resort of Kassiopi has a much larger selection of shops to explore, and Corfu Town is also easily accessible by car for a more serious session of retail therapy!

Bars and restaurants

This popular resort has a few excellent tavernas by the waterfront. Or venture 40 minutes North towards Kassiopi, one of the busiest resorts on the North East coast, which offers a huge choice of shops and places to eat offering local produce and fantastic views over the water.

Beaches

The closest bay to the villa is at Nissaki, which has a small but picturesque shingle beach and a handful of waterside tavernas to choose from. Alternatively, drive 10 minutes South to the long pebbly beach of Barbati where you can enjoy cocktails at any one of its numerous beach bars.

Family fun

There are 3 waterparks on the island, the nearest is Aqualand, around 30 minutes' drive back towards Corfu Town.

Places of interest

Hire a boat for the day and make your own way up the coast. You can stop at Agni for a spot of light lunch or Kalami to see the former residence of Lawrence Durrell, brother of Gerald, who penned the childhood classic My Family and Other Animals.

Golf

Corfu Golf Club is around 40 minutes' drive South West of Nissaki.

Other activities

Explore Nissaki Harbour where you can organise boat hire - surely the best way to explore this emerald island. Regular boat trips also leave from Nissaki to Corfu Town, which is well worth a visit, rich with history. Villa Lithari's proximity to the peak of Mount Pantocrator also offers stunning routes for keen walkers to explore the islands highest point.

Activities and things to do
Activity
Self drive boat hire
The Corfu is an ideal location to hire a small boat and skipper yourself and family for the day to explore the many coves and beaches. There are a number of resorts where boats of several different sizes can be hired locally. Usually there are boats with tiller steering and ones with steering wheels. Most boats have a sun canopy. All boats have life vests and are fully prepared. You do not need a speedboat licence to drive a boat with an engine smaller than 25hp. Instruction can be given if required.
Activity
Watersports
Virtually all major beaches and many of the smaller ones have water sports of one form or another available.

Generally pedalos and small canoes can be found everywhere and sports activities include water-skiing and water boards, para-gliding, ringos, banana boats and the latest 'fish' which works on a similar principal.

Most water sports jetties offer lessons and some offer courses for children.

There are very few places that now offer jet skiing. One beach is Gouvia beach where a qualified instructor has tow jet skis available for hire.
Activity
Boat trips
The beautiful 14 meter motor yacht, the Nautilus, offers trips around the North East coast of the island or a day or night time cruise round to Corfu Town. The boat has a BBQ and passengers will also have the chance to swim from the boat - perfect for snorkelling!

http://www.dailycruisescorfu.com/index.html

Paleokastritsa has little boats that take up to 20 people on small tours to the nearby caves. The tours last about an hour and are a lovely way to admire the dramatic scenery and small caves of the West Coast.

Calypso glass bottom boat leaves from Corfu old port on a regular basis. A large glass bottom boat it takes big groups to a spot just off the island of Vidos. The round trip takes about an hour and children can see sea lions and the fish around the island.

Activity
Corfu Golf Club
Designed by the famous architect Donald Harradine the Corfu course has been praised by many as one of the best kept in Europe and he has blended the natural resources of the lovely Ropa Valley with man made hazards to make the course a good but fair test. It is as enjoyable for the scratch player as it is for the long handicap one. The course is open 7 days a week.

The magnificent greens of Penncross Bent are considered to be the finest in the Mediterranean, the treelined fairways and the sandtraps combined with several lakes and meandering streams, make an attractive picture against a backcloth of high hills. A new modern irrigation system keeps the golf course in excellent condition even through the hot summer months. Over the past 3 years the golf course and clubhouse has undergone a total renovation. Bunkers have been redesigned, deepened, drained and filled with white sand, shipped in from a nearby Greek island.

Suitable for all levels of player with qualified instructors on hand for beginners and equipment rental available. It is also ideally placed for families who perhaps don't all share the same interest in the sport being a mere 10 minute drive from Aqualand, the largest waterpark on the island, 20 minutes out of Corfu town and 10 minutes from the nearest beach at Ermones.

It has a large well-appointed clubhouse and restaurant and is open all year round.

Activity
Waterparks
There are 2 waterparks on the Island: Hydropolis on the outskirts of Acharavi on the north coast, and the larger Aqualand in Ag Ioannis, just outside Corfu Town. Both parks have a good selection of slides, pools and various refreshments available. Aqualand is by far the largest of the waterparks and in fact one of the largest waterparks in Europe with a big selection of rides and activities for all ages (including a very sedate 'lazy river' for older party members!) It has a couple of cafes and snack bars, a small shopping area and plenty of sun loungers and is open from 9am-8pm daily all Summer.

One of the hotels in Sidari also has a few small waterslides and a pool, open to the public.
