Villa Description
Swimming pool and BBQ area

Despite the villa's central position, the swimming pool and sun terrace are bordered with cypress and olive trees for a good deal of privacy. The brick BBQ is on the far side of the terrace and there's a table and chairs for dining. The games tables are a great addition too.

There is a removable pool fence available on request at an extra charge of £60.00, which covers the cost of installation.

Entrance

Villa Xanthe is accessed up a very short but steep hill, off the road leading into the harbour. The villa's fantastic central position means that car hire is not necessary, but there is a small area next to the villa to park if needed. The main entrance is at the front of the house, with the pool and BBQ area at the back.

Living space

The living space has a traditional open plan design, combining the well-equipped kitchen, dining area and lounge. There's a comfortable seating area with a flat screen TV and coffee table, plus a dining table and chairs, and the kitchen has a handy breakfast bar too. Two sets of patio doors at the far side open directly onto the pool terrace.

Bedrooms and bathrooms

Villa Xanthe has 3 bedrooms, each with its own en suite facilities. On the ground floor is a twin bedroom with en suite shower room, and a separate WC on the far side of the living area.
Upstairs is a double bedroom with en suite shower room and a twin bedroom with en suite bathroom. These 2 bedrooms share a spacious partly covered terrace with a small seating area, which overlooks the pool below. A second terrace can be accessed from the first floor hall, which has external steps down to the pool.

Villa Location
Villa Xanthe could not be better positioned. Kassiopi's central harbour is only a few minutes' walk away, and is lined with a mix of both traditional and modern restaurants, as well as several souvenir shops. The harbour is overlooked by the remains of Kassiopi Castle, which is lit up at night creating a wonderful atmosphere to dine. There are various beaches around the headland, the nearest being 10 minutes' walk away, with a couple of good tavernas where you can stop for lunch. Villas Angela and Moyria are next door.

Location features

Local markets and shopping

Kassiopi has several shops selling clothes, souvenirs and beach accessories, as well as a couple of mini markets and supermarkets where you can stock up on daily essentials and BBQ supplies.

The islands only market is in the capital, Corfu Town. Here, the stalls sell fresh locally caught fish, vegetables and fruit. The town centre is filled with gift and high street shops which, despite being an hours' drive south, is still well worth the journey.

Bars and restaurants

The roads leading into the harbour have a few restaurants, with a greater choice of tavernas and lively bars around the waterfront. There is everything from contemporary eating places to traditional venues, and popular bars with Greek dancing, karaoke and live sports!

Beaches

Kassiopi has several small but attractive beaches dotted around the headland. The nearest is Kassiopi Kalamionas Beach which is only 10 minutes' walk away, on the other side of the headland to the harbour. Continuing along the seafront will bring you to the larger beach of Imerolia, ¾ mile away. Or, following the path past the harbour you'll reach the beautiful little beaches of Bataria and Pipitou. All beaches are pebbly, but still ideal for sunbathing, snorkelling and swimming. Sunbeds can be hired and there are various tavernas dotted around the seafront where you can stop for lunch.

Family fun

Children will love paddling and snorkelling in the sea. You can also venture 20 minutes' drive west to the popular Hydropolis Waterpark in Acharavi. The larger Aqualand Waterpark is an hours' drive back towards Corfu Town.

Places of interest

In the true spirit of Greece, motorboats can be hired locally to explore the stunning bays of Kouloura, Kalami and Agni along the North East Coast. Alternatively, visit the islands highest point, Mount Pantokrator, and admire the superb scenery. Or, why not explore the abandoned village of Old Perithia which, today, is being brought back to life as the abandoned houses are renovated and summer tavernas cater for visitors.

Golf

Corfu's only golf course is located a little over an hours' drive south in the Ropa Valley.

Other activities

Horse riding facilities, water sports and various boating excursions can all be found nearby.

Activities and things to do
Activity
Self drive boat hire
The Corfu is an ideal location to hire a small boat and skipper yourself and family for the day to explore the many coves and beaches. There are a number of resorts where boats of several different sizes can be hired locally. Usually there are boats with tiller steering and ones with steering wheels. Most boats have a sun canopy. All boats have life vests and are fully prepared. You do not need a speedboat licence to drive a boat with an engine smaller than 25hp. Instruction can be given if required.
Activity
Pantocrator Mountain
The highest point of Corfu and standing majestically overlooking the North East corner of Corfu, Corfu Town and the mainland beyond.

One of the many beautiful driving routes on the island takes you up through several small villages including Spartillas, known (along with its sister village Lakones on the opposite coast) as 'the balcony of Corfu' because of its spectacular views.

Follow on through Strinillas, one of the original hidden villages, built out of sight of the coast and therefore the marauding pirates of the time and up a narrow road to Mount Pantocrator the highest point on the island at 906 metres.

There is also an adventurous drive from the North of the island, but this is best done in a four wheel drive vehicle.

The last section of the road is better walked by the nervous but the fantastic panoramic views from the monastry and café, at the top are well worth the effort.

Activity
Waterparks
There are 2 waterparks on the Island: Hydropolis on the outskirts of Acharavi on the north coast, and the larger Aqualand in Ag Ioannis, just outside Corfu Town. Both parks have a good selection of slides, pools and various refreshments available. Aqualand is by far the largest of the waterparks and in fact one of the largest waterparks in Europe with a big selection of rides and activities for all ages (including a very sedate 'lazy river' for older party members!) It has a couple of cafes and snack bars, a small shopping area and plenty of sun loungers and is open from 9am-8pm daily all Summer.

One of the hotels in Sidari also has a few small waterslides and a pool, open to the public.

Activity
Corfu Golf Club
Designed by the famous architect Donald Harradine the Corfu course has been praised by many as one of the best kept in Europe and he has blended the natural resources of the lovely Ropa Valley with man made hazards to make the course a good but fair test. It is as enjoyable for the scratch player as it is for the long handicap one. The course is open 7 days a week.

The magnificent greens of Penncross Bent are considered to be the finest in the Mediterranean, the treelined fairways and the sandtraps combined with several lakes and meandering streams, make an attractive picture against a backcloth of high hills. A new modern irrigation system keeps the golf course in excellent condition even through the hot summer months. Over the past 3 years the golf course and clubhouse has undergone a total renovation. Bunkers have been redesigned, deepened, drained and filled with white sand, shipped in from a nearby Greek island.

Suitable for all levels of player with qualified instructors on hand for beginners and equipment rental available. It is also ideally placed for families who perhaps don't all share the same interest in the sport being a mere 10 minute drive from Aqualand, the largest waterpark on the island, 20 minutes out of Corfu town and 10 minutes from the nearest beach at Ermones.

It has a large well-appointed clubhouse and restaurant and is open all year round.

Activity
The Achilleon Palace
The Achilleon is an impressive summer palace that was built in the early 1890's for the Empress Elizabeth of Austria (''Sissy'') who had a passion for Greece and Corfu in particular. A large imposing building about 5km south of Corfu town through the lovely village of Gastouri the Achilleon is worth the visit particularly for the lovely views from the palace grounds.

Michael Mcbrien, 05-Jun-2015

Excellent location close to centre of Kassiopi which was a beautiful quiet resort with huge variety of restaurants. Very private and comfortable pool area. Large and spacious living area and bedrooms. Wi-fi a little temperamental at the beginning but worked really well for vast majority of the time. Good kitchen utensils with microwave etc. Lovely barbecue area. Web site description of the villa was very accurate. We thoroughly enjoyed staying at this villa and would have no hesitation in recommending it.
