Villa Description
Swimming pool and BBQ area

The private swimming pool sits beside the villa, with picturesque views over the resort from the surrounding terrace. There's a table and chairs and a brick BBQ for enjoying dining at the villa too. Plus, the attractive mulberry tree offers a bit of natural shade, as well as lending its Greek name - Mouria - to the house. The villa is set amidst olive groves, leading up to the ancient castle of Kassiopi, which can be reached from a small rough path from the garden. From here you can enjoy wonderful views of the resort.

A pool fence is available on request at an extra cost of £60.

The villa is perched at the top of a short but steep hill. From the driveway, a path leads past the pool to the entrance. It's a serene location, despite the villa's central position.

Living space

The open plan lounge, dining area and kitchen is spacious and bright, with patio doors opening onto the pool and BBQ terraces. The living area has several traditional features including a large ornamental fireplace, and an open stone wall along the stairs. There's plenty of comfortable seating, a flat screen TV and a table and chairs for interior dining.

Bedrooms and bathrooms

Upstairs is a double bedroom with an impressive 4 poster bed, an en suite bathroom and a small private balcony overlooking the pool to the resort beyond. There are 2 twin bedrooms, one with an en suite bathroom and a terrace with steps down to the pool, the other with an en suite shower room and terrace. The first floor hallway also has exterior steps down to the pool terrace. There's a WC on the ground floor too.

Villa Location
Villa Moyria is in a fantastic location, only a couple of minutes' walk from the centre of Kassiopi. This popular Greek resort is focused on its harbour which is lined with both modern and traditional tavernas and a good choice of shops, all overlooked by the remains of Kassiopi Castle. The nearest beach is Kassiopi Kalamionas Beach, which can be reached in 10 minutes on foot. However, there are several smaller beaches around the headland, as well as the larger Imerolia Beach, all within a 20 minute walk.

Location features

Local markets and shopping

Kassiopi has a wealth of beachwear and souvenir shops around the harbour, as well as a couple of mini markets where you can stock up on essentials and BBQ supplies. Serious shoppers should head to Corfu Town, an hours' drive south along the coast road. The island's capital, Corfu Town has a lively market, many small gift shops and larger high street brands to browse.

Bars and restaurants

This popular resort is one of the largest around the North Coast, so there are plenty of cafes and restaurants to sample. Authentic Greek tavernas sit side by side with several more modern dining venues, all overlooking the boats bobbing in the harbour. More places to eat and drink can be found along the streets which branch away from the harbour too. Plus, Kassiopi also has a small selection of lively bars where you'll find live sports, karaoke and Greek dancing!

Kassiopi has several small but attractive beaches dotted around the headland. The nearest is Kalamionas Beach which is only 10 minutes' walk away, on the other side of the headland to the harbour. Continuing along the seafront will bring you to the larger beach of Imerolia, ¾ mile away. Following the path past the harbour you'll reach the beautiful little beaches of Bataria and Pipitou. All beaches are pebbly, but still ideal for sunbathing, snorkelling and swimming. Sunbeds can be hired and there are various tavernas dotted around the seafront where you can stop for lunch.

Family fun

Corfu has a total of 3 waterparks, the nearest being Hydropolis in Acharavi, 20 minutes' drive away. The largest waterpark, Aqualand, is an hour away.

Places of interest

Kassiopi harbour is overlooked by the remains of its impressive castle which can be accessed by a path from the terrace, or a steep, rough track from the harbour. The views from the castle over the village are stunning - well worth the climb! Further afield, and all easily accessed by car, are Corfu's highest point, Mount Pantokrator and the beautiful sandy beaches and views from Paleokastritsa, not to mention various quaint villages waiting to be explored. Or, if you prefer not to drive, why not hire a motorboat locally and explore Corfu's various hidden coves from the sea? Don't forget to take a picnic!

The island's only golf club is around an hour's drive south.

Other activities

No trip to Corfu would be complete without visiting Corfu Town. Its plethora of shops and restaurants, market, marina and fortresses make it a great day trip. You can even stay into the evening and enjoy cocktails at the Liston - the large central building lined with bars which overlook the fortress.

Activities and things to do
Boat trips
The beautiful 14 meter motor yacht, the Nautilus, offers trips around the North East coast of the island or a day or night time cruise round to Corfu Town. The boat has a BBQ and passengers will also have the chance to swim from the boat - perfect for snorkelling!

Paleokastritsa has little boats that take up to 20 people on small tours to the nearby caves. The tours last about an hour and are a lovely way to admire the dramatic scenery and small caves of the West Coast.

Calypso glass bottom boat leaves from Corfu old port on a regular basis. A large glass bottom boat it takes big groups to a spot just off the island of Vidos. The round trip takes about an hour and children can see sea lions and the fish around the island.

Self drive boat hire
The Corfu is an ideal location to hire a small boat and skipper yourself and family for the day to explore the many coves and beaches. There are a number of resorts where boats of several different sizes can be hired locally. Usually there are boats with tiller steering and ones with steering wheels. Most boats have a sun canopy. All boats have life vests and are fully prepared. You do not need a speedboat licence to drive a boat with an engine smaller than 25hp. Instruction can be given if required.
Virtually all major beaches and many of the smaller ones have water sports of one form or another available.

Generally pedalos and small canoes can be found everywhere and sports activities include water-skiing and water boards, para-gliding, ringos, banana boats and the latest 'fish' which works on a similar principal.

Most water sports jetties offer lessons and some offer courses for children.

There are very few places that now offer jet skiing. One beach is Gouvia beach where a qualified instructor has tow jet skis available for hire.
Horse riding
If you prefer not to do all the work what better way to enjoy the scenery and tone up the muscles a bit than by horse. There are several horse riding schools around the island.

There are two very nice ones: One at Avlaki where Alison takes you on a ride through the Eremitis peninsular with its lovely sea views, another is in Kato Korakiana where Sally takes lovely rides through the countryside from her well-tended stables.

There are 2 waterparks on the Island: Hydropolis on the outskirts of Acharavi on the north coast, and the larger Aqualand in Ag Ioannis, just outside Corfu Town. Both parks have a good selection of slides, pools and various refreshments available. Aqualand is by far the largest of the waterparks and in fact one of the largest waterparks in Europe with a big selection of rides and activities for all ages (including a very sedate 'lazy river' for older party members!) It has a couple of cafes and snack bars, a small shopping area and plenty of sun loungers and is open from 9am-8pm daily all Summer.

Villa Moyria Customer Reviews

Simon Fuller, 09-Jun-2014

The villa was large and in an excellent location, up the hill away from the main bustle of the village, but still only a short walk away. Each room had its own bathroom, and outside was a fantastic swimming pool. The was also plenty of space for eating and drinking outside.
