Villa Location
From the position of Villa San Stefanos House, perched on the hillside above Agios Stefanos, a gentle 10 minute walk downhill will take you into the village. This easy-going resort has a quaint harbour and pebble beach, surrounded by several good tavernas and shops. The larger beach at Kerasia is only 5 minutes' drive away too. Plus, there are many activities, alternative beaches and places to visit, including the island's capital, Corfu Town, all within easy reach by car or local motorboat.

Location features

Local markets and shopping

There are a couple of supermarkets in Agios Stefanos, as well as a larger one in nearby Sinies Village. The resort also has a couple of small gift shops where you can buy beachwear and souvenirs to take home.

Bars and restaurants

There's a good selection of cafes and tavernas, both modern and traditional, along the seafront and harbour where you can watch the fishing boats come and go. The resort has a laid-back vibe where you can enjoy good food day and night, as well as watch the sun set over the water.

Agios Stefanos has a small, pebbly but pleasant beach with a lovely beach bar right by the sea. The beach leads into the harbour which is lined with a good choice of tavernas and cafes. A 5 minute drive heading south along the coast will bring you to the larger beach of Kerasia, which has a great taverna right on the seafront.

Family fun

A horse riding centre, dingy sailing and boat trip facilities are all nearby and there is also a small waterpark, Hydropolis, around 30 minutes' drive along the coast in Acharavi. The larger Aqualand Waterpark is right in the centre of the island, approximately an hours' drive away.

Places of interest

For anyone wanting to experience a true taste of Greece, motorboats can be hired locally to explore the stunning bays of Kouloura, Kalami and Agni along the North East Coast. Corfu's highest point, Mount Pantokrator, offers some truly stunning scenery, or why not visit the traditional Greek Village of Old Perithia? The village was once abandoned but it now being brought back to life, with tavernas and shops open to visitors during the summer.

Corfu's only golf course is approximately 23 miles away in the centre of the Island, near the village of Ermones.

Other activities

No trip to Corfu would be complete without a visit to Corfu Town. The islands capital, Corfu Town has a lively market and a never-ending choice of quaint local gift shops, as well as larger high street brands. You can also visit the fortress which overlooks the marina, or enjoy a meal at the Liston - the central building lined with bars and restaurants and a small garden area with a couple of great cocktail venues!

Activities and things to do
Boat trips
The beautiful 14 meter motor yacht, the Nautilus, offers trips around the North East coast of the island or a day or night time cruise round to Corfu Town. The boat has a BBQ and passengers will also have the chance to swim from the boat - perfect for snorkelling!

Paleokastritsa has little boats that take up to 20 people on small tours to the nearby caves. The tours last about an hour and are a lovely way to admire the dramatic scenery and small caves of the West Coast.

Calypso glass bottom boat leaves from Corfu old port on a regular basis. A large glass bottom boat it takes big groups to a spot just off the island of Vidos. The round trip takes about an hour and children can see sea lions and the fish around the island.

Self drive boat hire
The Corfu is an ideal location to hire a small boat and skipper yourself and family for the day to explore the many coves and beaches. There are a number of resorts where boats of several different sizes can be hired locally. Usually there are boats with tiller steering and ones with steering wheels. Most boats have a sun canopy. All boats have life vests and are fully prepared. You do not need a speedboat licence to drive a boat with an engine smaller than 25hp. Instruction can be given if required.
Horse riding
If you prefer not to do all the work what better way to enjoy the scenery and tone up the muscles a bit than by horse. There are several horse riding schools around the island.

There are two very nice ones: One at Avlaki where Alison takes you on a ride through the Eremitis peninsular with its lovely sea views, another is in Kato Korakiana where Sally takes lovely rides through the countryside from her well-tended stables.

Virtually all major beaches and many of the smaller ones have water sports of one form or another available.

Generally pedalos and small canoes can be found everywhere and sports activities include water-skiing and water boards, para-gliding, ringos, banana boats and the latest 'fish' which works on a similar principal.

Most water sports jetties offer lessons and some offer courses for children.

There are very few places that now offer jet skiing. One beach is Gouvia beach where a qualified instructor has tow jet skis available for hire.
There are 2 waterparks on the Island: Hydropolis on the outskirts of Acharavi on the north coast, and the larger Aqualand in Ag Ioannis, just outside Corfu Town. Both parks have a good selection of slides, pools and various refreshments available. Aqualand is by far the largest of the waterparks and in fact one of the largest waterparks in Europe with a big selection of rides and activities for all ages (including a very sedate 'lazy river' for older party members!) It has a couple of cafes and snack bars, a small shopping area and plenty of sun loungers and is open from 9am-8pm daily all Summer.

This is our 4th time back to Agios Stephanos, but 1st time to this villa. The villa was excellent with stunning views. So easy to walk to the village from here. Will be back again next year!

Christopher Banks, 23-Jun-2014

It was much better than we imagined. The lovely owner, Emily was there when we arrived and made us feel very welcome. The villa was impeccably clean and well dressed. All facilities were as good as you could have wished for. Emily also cleaned the villa and was lovely to talk to on the days she came to clean. The location to the tavernas on the waterfront was excellent being only a few minutes down the footpath. 180 degree views across the Straits of Albania from the 1st floor terrace were stunning. An excellent villa in an excellent location.

We have been with vila plus twice a year now for 8 years and not once have we had any major problems and what problems we have encountered have been sorted very quickly indeed. Amelia who was our maid but also the owner of the villa was fantastic and she even allowed us to pick the lemons and oranges from her orchard so we had lots of freshly squeezed fruit juice in the fridge. Place was immaculate and as usual the Villa Plus Rep was brilliant. We will never go anywhere else!
