Villa description

A one storey dusty pink and white family home set in a garden filled with roses, grapes, oranges, and lemon trees. Villa Foula is a bright, cheerful and homely property ideal for groups who like to be close enough to local amenities to walk, and far enough away to retain their privacy.

For those with cars there is a private gated parking area to the side of the house and a few steps take you up to the front door and a large shaded terrace with dining table and chairs perfect for al fresco dining. Once inside there is a large room loosely divided into three areas.

To one side, with windows overlooking the pool and garden are a twin bedroom and a double bedroom. All bedrooms air conditioned at no extra cost. Next to these rooms are two small shower rooms. A step divides this area from the open plan kitchen/dining room and lounge.

The kitchen is decorated in blue and white and has a window out to the orange trees behind the house and the sitting room is in light airy colours with windows out to the barbeque area and garden.

To the back of the house is another twin bedroom with en-suite shower room and windows to the side of the house and a double bedroom with en-suite bathroom and patio doors out to a private terrace.

Outside and to the side of the house is a lovely kidney shaped pool, stone barbeque and garden area. There are plenty of choices for sunshine or shade, sun beds and a poolside shower. With its lovely secluded setting amongst the oranges and olive trees and its good accessibility villa Foula has a lovely peaceful traditional feel.

A perfect spot to wind down and relax with your family and friends.

Villa location

Villa Foula is ideal for families, being within easy reach of the village and amenities of Agios Stephanos, yet it is set up a small track surrounded by mature trees which makes it an ideal quiet hideaway. A five minute walk brings you onto the waterfront with its tavernas, café, bars and shops, the villa offers both convenienct and privacy, and Villa Magda is next door making them ideal choices for groups or families who wish to holiday together.

Location features

Hidden away up a small private track bordered by fig, cherry and olive trees villa Foula is the ideal hideaway for parties that like their privacy but want to be within a short walk of local amenities.

Just 300m behind the the village of Agios Stefanos with villa Magda and the owners house as the only close but unintrusive neighbours villa Foula really has the best of both worlds being quiet and secluded as well as being close to the village.

For those that like to walk Foula is ideal. Within a half hour walk is the lovely beach of Kerasia, there are countyside walking routes to the back of the house and for the more active Avlaki beach can be reached within the hour.

The perfect way to explore is by boat either on an organised trip or by hiring your own. Also a few days car hire to explore inland or along the coast is well worth the cost and can be arranged easily. Agios Stefanos position near the centre of the North East coast is the perfect starting place for a day or two of exploring.

Boat Trips

Easily one of the best, most enchanting and relaxed ways to see Corfu is from the sea. Whether you are happy just to remain local with a pedalo, be adventurous by hiring your own little boat, prefer your boat to be captained and be wined and dined or fancy going for the ferries and heading off to other islands, there is something for everyone. There are various boat trips and excursions on offer all over the island. The main areas to take to the sea are the North East Coast with its stunningly beautiful scenery and myriad of little pebble bays or Paleokastritsa with its dramatic cliffs and deep blue waters. 'Vivi' boat is a well-maintained traditional caique that does boat trips up the North East Coast of Corfu and to Corfu town. Taking no more than 14 passengers it is a lovely day out for the whole family. With or without a meal included it is a relaxed way to see the beautiful coast and some of the beaches only accessible by boat. Leaving at 11am and returning by about 4pm the trips are lovely and personal and the captain is particularly good with children. There are snorkels and masks aboard that the captain shows older children how to use. Paleocastritsa has little boats that take up to 20 people on small tours to the nearby caves. The tours last about an hour and are a lovely way to admire the dramatic scenery and small caves of the West Coast. Calypso glass bottom boat. Leaving from Corfu old port on a regular basis a large glass bottom boat takes big groups to a spot just off the island of Vidos. The round trip takes about an hour and children can see two sea lions and the fish around the island.
Activity

Horse riding

If you prefer not to do all the work what better way to enjoy the scenery and tone up the muscles a bit than by horse. , There are several horse riding schools around the island.

There are two very nice ones: One at Avlaki where ,Alison takes you ,on a ride through the Eremitis peninsular with its lovely sea views, another is in Kato Korakiana where Sally takes lovely rides through the countryside from her well-tended stables.

Activity

Windsurfing

Though not known particularly for its windsurfing Corfu none the less has two good windsurfing schools. , One is in the south of the island and the other is on Avlaki beach in the North. ,

Windsurfing is something all the family can enjoy, either out at sea or from the comfort of a sunbed on the beach! A range of boards and lessons from qualified instructors are available, if required

Activity

Sailing

Sailing is a wonderful pastime on the generally calm Ionian waters with its sheltered coves and steady afternoon breezes, and as you would expect, there are sailing schools dotted around the island.

In Avlaki (well known for constant breezes) there is a dingy sailing school with many different types of small "fun and fast" craft.

For those that prefer larger craft there are various yachting agencies and private charter individuals in Gouvia Marina that offer captained or bare boat charters on request.
Activity

Waterparks

There are ,2 waterparks on the Island: Hydropolis on the outskirts of Acharavi on the north coast, ,and the larger Aqualand in Ag Ioannis, just outside Corfu Town. ,Both parks have a good selection of slides, pools and various refreshments available. Aqualand is by far the largest of the waterparks and in fact one of the largest waterparks in Europe with a big selection of rides and activities for all ages (including a very sedate 'lazy river' for older party members!) It has a couple of cafes and snack bars, a small shopping area and plenty of sun loungers and is open from 9am-8pm daily all Summer.

One of the hotels in Sidari also has a few small waterslides and a pool, open to the public.

Activity

Corfu Golf Club

Designed by the famous architect Donald Harradine the Corfu course has been praised by many as one of the best kept in Europe and he has blended the natural resources of the lovely Ropa Valley with man made hazards to make the course a good but fair test. It is as enjoyable for the scratch player as it is for the long handicap one. The course is open 7 days a week.

 ,

The magnificent greens of Penncross Bent are considered to be the finest in the Mediterranean, the treelined fairways and the sandtraps combined with several lakes and meandering streams, make an attractive picture against a backcloth of high hills. A new modern irrigation system keeps the golf course in excellent condition even through the hot summer months. Over the past 3 years the golf course and clubhouse has undergone a total renovation. Bunkers have been redesigned, deepened, drained and filled with white sand, shipped in from a nearby Greek island.

 ,

Suitable for all levels of player with qualified instructors on hand for beginners and equipment rental available. ,It is also ideally placed for families who perhaps don't all share the same interest in the sport being a mere 10 minute drive from Aqualand, the largest waterpark on the island, 20 minutes out of Corfu town and 10 minutes from the nearest beach at Ermones.

It has a large well-appointed clubhouse and restaurant and is open all year round.
