Frejus is a beautiful town with a rich and varied history that includes roman and ancient military monuments to explore. Situated on the coast, between the glamourous towns of Saint Tropez and Cannes, it boasts an enviable position on the French Riviera. The ancient Cathedral marks the centre of the town of Frejus and from here the upmarket port and wonderful sandy beach are a leisurely walk away. Our villas, all of which offer a private pool, are located in the wonderful countryside that is found around Frejus and up into the Esterel mountain range.

Exploring Frejus on a Villa Holiday

You’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to markets in Frejus. Throughout the week you’ll find markets selling a range of local products. The largest market of the week takes place along the beach front on Sunday mornings, with traders displaying their delicious produce, from fruit to cheese and cold meats. On Wednesdays and Saturdays, you’ll find the historic centre of Frejus alive with the bustle of the Provencal market. Around the old streets of Frejus you’ll find a number of exciting shops, from wonderful chocolatiers to stylish boutiques. Supermarkets can be found on the edge of town, for all your daily needs.

You’ll find an exciting array of restaurants throughout Frejus, with various options for location. Enjoy classic French cuisine in the shadow of the cathedral, indulge in seafood overlooking the sea or feast on pasta by the port.

The French Riviera is renowned for having some of the best beaches in Europe, if not the world, and those close to Frejus don’t disappoint. Plage Frejus is 1000 metres of sand that runs from the Frejus port to the adjoining town of Saint Raphael. Along the coast, in the direction of Cannes, is the long shingle beach of Plage d’Agay, nestled in a beautiful bay, it’s a great spot for families.

For a fantastic family day out be sure to head to Aqualand Frejus, open from June to August, it’s the largest water park on the Cote d’Azur, there are slides, rides and lazy rivers to keep you busy all day. Next door is the vibrant and exhilarating Luna Park, home to a whole host of amusements. From rollercoasters to bumper cars, you’ll have all the fun of the fair here.

The town of Frejus sits today on the site of an ancient naval base founded by Julius Caesar around 49 BC. Roman ruins that can be still seen and explored today include a 1st century amphitheatre, an aqueduct and ancient fortifications. The Roman Catholic Cathedral, built between the 5th and 13th century, is well worth a visit and has an impressive interior and exterior. The cloister, which served as a place of meditation for the bishop, is a must see, with its breathtaking serenity.
