Here you'll find many restaurants, serving everything from traditional Cypriot food to International choices. There are also a number of bars offering karaoke, bingo and quiz nights but if you're after some serious nightlife, the lively Ayia Napa is less than 20 minutes' drive away. It also has a spectacular beach bar and restaurant with live music and traditional Cypriot delights.

Beaches

You'll be spoilt for choice staying at this villa with 3 stunning beaches only a short walk or a couple of minutes' drive away. Trinity beach is a beautiful bay with calm waters and gently sloping sand great for families with young children where you can spend time building sand castles. The small beach of Crystal Springs is also a short stroll away, with shallow waters and soft sand. And last but not least, Sirena Bay Beach with its various shades of blue water, tempting anyone to dive right in. There are plenty of sunbeds and parasols for hire, so you will have plenty of time to soak up that Cypriot sunshine.

Family fun

Protaras has several attractions such as Star Leisure - a small amusement park and Protaras Ocean Aquarium and water sports. Children will love Water World Waterpark which has several wave pools, slides and attractions. It's located on the main coastal road on the outskirts of Ayia Napa, around 20 minutes away by car.

Places of interest

The Magic Dancing Waters, located in Protaras centre, is suitable for all ages and provides evening entertainment with coloured lasers and a fountain show, including the story of Zorba the Greek. The donkey farm in Avgorou is very popular with families. You can feed and ride donkeys here!

Other activities

Profitis Elias is a modern church built in the Byzantine style. It is well worth the walk to the church and the climb to the top (about 150 steep stone steps) where you can take in the breath-taking view of Protaras and the surrounding countryside. Activities and things to do
Activity
Fig Tree Bay
The most popular beach in Protaras, Fig Tree Bay takes its name from a solitary fig tree that stands a small distance from the beach. According to local legend, the tree arrived with eastern invaders in the 17th century and has patrolled the coastline ever since. Protaras’ expansion as a tourist centre owes much to the beauty of Fig Tree Bay. Drawn to the area by this picturesque coastline, developers lined the bay with hotels, bars and restaurants for the bourgeoning tourist population to enjoy. The beach itself is lovely if not a little crowded at the height of the summer season, its fine-grained white sand yielding to deep blue waters that are both shallow and clear. Just a few hundred metres from the beach sits a small rocky island that adventurous swimmers can reach and explore. The bay also hosts a variety of water sports - surfing, water skiing, paragliding etc. - and is serviced by a lifeguard between the hours of 10am-6pm.
Activity
Watersports
Water sports are available all over the island and charges on public beaches are approved by the Central Beach Committees. Prices do vary from resort to resort but, as a rough guide, windsurfers are approximately €10 per hour, jet skis €22 for 15 minutes, banana rides €5 for 15 minutes and ring rides €7 for 15 minutes.
Activity
Magic Dancing Water Show
A fantastic live spectacular show with combinations of dancing colourful fountains, 3D laser graphics and animations and boasts to be the most realistic erupting volcano show in the world. It is great value for money and is the only place of its kind in Cyprus.
Activity
Protaras Ocean Aquarium
Protaras Ocean Aquarium is home to 1,000 plus species of birds, reptiles and birds. Relax and have fun as you delve into the depths of the exciting and diverse underwater world or take a walk in the beautiful tropical gardens. Enjoy a spectacular voyage through the rivers, lakes and Oceans of the world. You will encounter 400 different species of sea life including eels and turtles. The gardens are beautiful, you could freely walk among tropical plant-life. There is also a café for snacks and drinks.
Activity
Ayia Napa Resorts
Ayia Napa was originally a small fishing village and has become a major tourist centre in Cyprus and is famous for its nightlife. The main centre of the district is Paralimni, 3 miles north of Ayia Napa. East of the village is Protaras which is also known for its nightlife although it’s not as busy as Ayia Napa.

Families haven’t been forgotten and Ayia Napa has taken huge strides to make it a place that caters for all the family on their holiday to Cyprus. With some of the best beaches on Cyprus, it’s easy to have fun with a bucket and spade, building sand castles! All types of water sports can be found to cater for all enthusiasts including windsurfing, sailing, canoeing, pedal and motor boats, parasailing, scuba diving and snorkelling. Boat trips are available along the coast – why not visit the historical city of Larnaca.

Take a look at the interesting medieval monastery right in the heart of Agia Napa which has a 16th century church partially cut into the rock and boasts an ancient sycamore tree, at the south gate, believed to be 600 years old.

There are a variety of restaurants to choose from specialising in typical Cypriot specialities such as mousska, stifado (tender beef stew cooked in red wine and vinegar), taramosalata, kleftiko (lamb, slowly cooked in a traditional clay oven) – also restaurants providing international cuisine.

Browse around the shops in Ayia Napa selling designer labelled goods where you are sure to find a bargain. The souvenir shops sell beautiful Lefkara lace, pottery, good quality leatherwear, jewellery etc. and are generally open until late at night except on Sundays.

Ayia Napa is well known for its clubbing and it comes alive after the sun sets with discos, nightclubs and bars open until the early hours of the morning. This Cypriot resort is determined to maintain its popularity in this area and is well known throughout Europe for the place to be for fun in the sun!
