Location features

Local markets and shopping

The nearest mini markets and supermarkets are located in Porec. The town also has many clothing, jewellery and souvenir shops along its quaint cobbled streets.

Bars and restaurants

There are a few traditional restaurants - or konobas - dotted around the countryside and in the nearby village of Visnjan. But it's best to venture into Porec for a much bigger choice of places to eat, including several overlooking the sea and marina.

Beaches

Although Istria's beaches are mostly paved, stone or shingle, they still provide the ideal opportunity to sunbathe and swim. The nearest beaches are in Porec, although the more commercialised beaches of Zelena Laguna (Green Lagoon) and Plava Laguna (Blue Lagoon) are not much further away.

Family fun

There are 2 waterparks in the area, the nearest being 15 minutes' drive away on the far side of Porec, as well as a dinosaur fun park, the popular Traktor Museum, aquarium or Mini Croatia model village. Plus, water sports, tennis facilities, go-karting and adrenaline parks are all easily reached within a short drive.

Places of interest

Istria certainly has no shortage of things to see and do, in particular historical and cultural attractions. Porec is home to the well-known Euphrasius Basilica in the centre of the resort. Further afield you can explore Pula's famous Roman Amphitheatre, enjoy the view from the beautiful hilltop fortress town of Motovun, or visit the Church of St. Euphemia perched on the hill of Rovinj Old Town.

Golf

There are 2 golf courses in the surrounding area. Golf Adriatic is 40 minutes' drive north in Umag. Or, you can venture across to the course on Brijuni Island which is only reached by boat from the resort of Fazana, 40 minutes south, towards Pula.

Other activities

Cycling is very popular in Istria, with around 30 minutes' drive away of marked routes taking you through some of the most beautiful countryside scenery.
