Villa Description
Swimming pool, BBQ area and outside space

One of the highlights of Villa Fumica is the superb BBQ and exterior dining area, shaded from the sun under an authentic beamed pergola. There is also a small but very attractive seating area overlooking the pool, accessed by steps from the terrace. The private swimming pool is a pentagonal shape with Roman steps for easy access.

Entrance

Villa Fumica has a private, gated parking area, with space for 3 hire cars.

Living space

The interior has been decorated with real attention to detail, keeping in style with the countryside setting. The lounge, dining area and kitchen are all open plan, with an ornamental fireplace and beamed ceiling. Patio doors open onto the pool terrace. There is also the unusual feature of a small seating room down steps from the lounge, with a table and chairs.

Bedrooms and bathrooms

There are 4 bedrooms in the main house. Both the first and second floors each have a twin bedroom and double bedroom with en suite shower room. Each bedroom is decorated to a high standard whilst maintaining the old stone feature walls from the original building. There is also a WC on the ground floor.

Annexe

The annexe is opposite the house, on the far side of the swimming pool. Here you'll find a small, open plan living area which includes a kitchenette, dining area, lounge and WC. Stairs lead up to a double bedroom and en suite shower room.

Villa Location
The location of Villa Fumica is ideal for anyone wanting to sample the real Istrian way of life, and enjoy beautiful countryside surroundings. A small choice of shops and places to eat can be found within around 15 minutes' drive, but the larger coastal towns of Porec and Rovinj are definitely worth a visit, both easily reachable by car. The small, cultural towns of Groznjan, Motovun and Hum are also in the area, not to be missed!

Location features

Local markets and shopping

There is a small mini market 4 miles away in Sveti Lovrec where you can buy daily essentials. However, for a much better choice of shops, Porec is easily reachable by car.

Bars and restaurants

There are many restaurants in the surrounding towns, mostly specialising in local truffles - an Istrian delicacy. A choice of cafes and a bar can be found in Sveti Lovrec where you can enjoy amazing views of the Istrian countryside. But venture into Porec of Rovinj for a much larger variety of places to eat.

Beaches

Both Porec and Rovinj have a choice of pebbly beaches and paved bathing platforms. There are also a number of shingle coves with easier access into the sea for small children and non-swimmers.

Family fun

There are 2 waterparks in Istria - Aquacolours and Istralandia - as well as a dinosaur park, horse riding facilities and adrenalin parks.

Places of interest

You will be spoilt for choice of things to do in this part of Croatia. The Basilica of St. Euphrasius in Porec is definitely worth a mention, whilst further afield you can visit the Roman amphitheatre in Pula, the hilltop fortress of Motovun, or the Church of St. Euphemia in the centre of Rovinj Old Town. Istria is packed with history and culture and in most towns you will find something of interest.

Golf

There is a fantastic golf course on Brijuni island which can only be reached by boat from Fazana, near Pula. There is also the Adriatic Golf Course north of Umag.

Other activities

Cycling is very popular in Istria with over 60 miles of marked routes taking you through some of the most beautiful scenery in Croatia.

Activities and things to do
Activity
Euphrasius Basilica, Porec
The Basilica of St. Euphrasius in Porec is definitely worth a visit for anyone wanting to enjoy an authentic taste of Croatia and learn about its rich history. The Basilica has a collection of Byzantine art and architecture dating from the 6th century, included in the UNESCO List of World Cultural Heritage. The building is also easy to identify from the exterior, dominating the skyline of Porec, and is one of the most photographed sites in the area.

Activity
Baredine Jama-Grotta Caves
The Baredine Caves in Porec are well worth a visit if you're looking for something a bit different to do during your stay. The caves are an underground maze of stalagmites and stalactites, forming structures such as the 10 metre long curtains, a statue of the Virgin Mary, the shepherdess Milka's body, the Leaning Tower of Pisa and the snowman torchbearer! A guide will take you on a 40 minute tour of the caves, past the 66 metre deep hatch descending to the underground lakes. Certain varieties of insects and crayfish can also be found and there is a museum to explore as well. The Traktor Museum and climbing centre are next door.

Activity
Adrenalin Parks
Adrenalin Park Glavani, located in Barban, around 30 minutes drive North of Pula, is one of Croatia's largest adrenaline parks. Experienced staff will talk you through the different courses, starting with the 2 metre course, then the 6 metre and finally the 10 metre courses, both of the latter finishing in a 113 metre zip-wire! http://glavanipark.com/en/?lang=en

The adrenalin park in Umag, North of Porec, has a similar set of courses. http://umag-adrenalin-park.com/en

Both parks have a number of ropes, bridges, ladders and logs high in the trees to navigate through - a great family day out!

Activity
Aquariums
Porec Aquarium is located in the Old Town, and has 24 aquariums with flora and fauna from the Adriatic coast, with roughly 80 different species.
