Shaun In The City - The Trail!

Posted on Apr 08 2015

Shaun has found his place in the nation's hearts as a TV and movie favourite, and is now adorning the streets of our capital city in statue form. Those of you who are Wallace and Gromit fans may have taken part in the Gromit across Bristol last year. This year Shaun has his very own trail and it's currently taking place in London before he and his flock venture to Bristol.

You may already know, but Villa Plus have their very own Shaun, Globe Trotter Shaun, who is currently standing proud on Tower Bridge.

We couldn't resist having a Grand Day Out and following the trail around London, so armed with our trusty companion (Shaun) we headed off to the City to see the beautifully decorated flock of Sheep.

There are 4 routes on the trail; Shaun's Trail, Timmy's Trail, Shirley's Trail and Blitzer's Trail. The routes take in some baa-rilliant landmarks like Hamley's, Trafalgar Square, Covent Garden, The London Eye, The Tower of London and Tower Bridge. There are plenty of photo opportunities along the way and each of the routes takes no longer than an hour. For those of you travelling with little ones, there are many eateries along the way so if you and little legs get tired, you can easily stop off along the way for a bite to eat and a short break.

Shaun In the City-The Trail!

What's most important is it's all in aid of a good cause, with each sheep along the route raising money for sick children in hospitals. You can also download “The Shaun In The City - Sheep Spotter” app from the Google Play Store or App Store for £1.49. All proceeds from purchases of the app go to charity. The app will help you find each sheep along the way, gives interesting facts about each of the statues and, for the more competitive amongst you,  there are trophies to be found which makes each of the trails interactive and lots of fun.

For us our top 5 statues had to be Our very own Shaun “Globe Trotter Shaun,” Liberty Bell Shaun, Paradise Bunch Shaun (Cath Kidston,) Pearly King Shaun and, having a very sweet tooth, Candy Baa.

For anyone looking to take part in the tour, we have some tips:

1) Wear comfortable shoes – there is a lot of walking, but it’s all worth it in the end.

2) Download the app/take a map along with you – it’ll make the tour more enjoyable and you’ll be able to see all the shauns along the way.

3) Take plenty of pictures just like we did. Here are some of Shaun’s snaps (including a sheepish selfie.)

If you're looking for something fun to do this Easter in London. We'd definitely recommend taking a trip to the Big City to see Shaun and friends in statue form.

Shaun in the City is taking over London until the 25th May from where he will venture to Bristol. If you have taken part in the tour, why not send us your pictures or let us know any tips and what you thought of it. We'd love to hear from you.
