Sporting Activities In Turkey

Watersports are available in just about every beach resort in Turkey, with more than 8000km of stunning coastline and 235 blue flag beaches. Turkey can cater for almost every type of activity from swimming, snorkelling and canoeing to windsurfing, water-skiing and kite-surfing. Turkey’s clear warm waters and visibility of up to 30m make it an ideal place for scuba diving. The best places for both learners and experienced divers are off the Mediterranean coasts, in particular Fethiye.

A popular excursion in Olu Deniz is paragliding. After a 30 minute drive to the summit of Babadag mountains you can have the opportunity to fly single, tandem paragliding and land softly on Belecezik beach. Good wind conditions, thermals reaching up to 4000m, fantastic views and proximity to the sea make Olu Deniz one of the safest and scenic places to fly.

Boat Trip

There are many boats which depart daily from the beaches along the coast, providing either a lively or lazy day out on a two deck boat with sunbeds. One of the most popular is the 12 Islands boat trip which explores the 12 Islands of Fethiye bay. There are opportunities to swim, snorkel and dive, plus lunch is served on board and the scenery is spectacular.

Or, for anyone staying in Kalkan, explore the Lycian sites and Southern coast of the island from one of the tours aboard the Turkish Mediterranean style wooden yachts known as the Gulet Boats.

Kalkan Watersports

Kalkan Dive Centre and Aquasports offer a huge choice of watersport activities to try, including scuba diving, snorkelling, water skiing, wake boarding, banana boats, ringo rides, jet skiing, speed boat trips, sea kayaking and motor boat hire!

Fish feeding is also available in the shallow, clear waters of the bay.

The centre is positioned by Kalamar beach, a little over a mile West along the coast from Kalkan, walkable in around 25 minutes or only 5 minutes away by car.

Horse Riding

For those who always wanted to gallop across a deserted sandy beach, then look no further than the soft sands of the endless Patara National Park. There are morning and afternoon rides available. These treks can be arranged in Kalkan.
