Sporting Activities In Tenerife


Tenerife has a great number of tracks and footpaths in a variety of environments, settings and climates, all with different levels of difficulty. Hiking helps you gain a deeper understanding of the island, and discover its beauty. Guided walks and organised treks are available.

Diving

There is a whole network of dive centres available in Tenerife, in most of the resorts, catering for the first timer to the more experienced.  Tenerife is a paradise for "underwater" holidays. It has a great climate, mainly calm waters, temperatures between 19 and 25 degrees centigrade and a variety of great diving sites all with a rich marine life, sunken ships and volcanic tubes. There is a complete network of diving centres on the island for advanced divers to beginners to ensure a safe diving experience.

Surfing

Surfing is a deeply rooted sport on the island of Tenerife thanks to the quality of the waves that continuously break against its shores, as well as the pleasant climate and its clean waters. Tenerife is a unique destination for the European surfing community, where they can practise "cutbacks," "floaters" and "tube riding" in winter and in summer, at the various surfing spots in the north and south of the island.

Horse Riding

In Tenerife the bridle-paths cross mountain prairies, ancient trails and through leafy forests. It is a different and enjoyable way of getting to know the island and its countryside. Various companies offer the chance to ride freely, with a guide, or in small organised groups and even the opportunity to take a ride that lasts several days.

Karting

Tennis

Sport Fishing

There are a number of companies that offer everything you need to go sport fishing on the high sea. These can be found in marinas and fishing harbours around the island.  When fishing from the coast, the best thing to do is to follow the example of the local fishermen who have acquired their knowledge of the sea over many generations.

Star Gazing

The skies of Tenerife are extraordinarily clear and for this reason the island has an international Astrophysics Institute with various observatories and telescopes. It is not only the scientists that come from all over the world that can enjoy these exceptional conditions for stargazing. You too can enjoy this activity during your holiday by taking one of the many organised excursions.

Windsurfing

The great windsurfing conditions on the island of Tenerife are well known by fans of this sport from all over the world. Here you can find the best spots to practise your skills at all levels. The constant Trade winds, together with the excellent weather conditions of Tenerife and an extensive infrastructure of clubs and schools, have made the island internationally recognised for this sport. It is also an ideal place for beginners.

Bike Riding

There are a number of companies offering bike hire on the island, and also organised excursions for downhill biking are very popular.

Watersports

Many of the main beaches in Tenerife offer an array of water sports activities, ranging from paragliding, kite surfing, and Jet Skis.

Gym & Spa

If you are used to a fully equipped Gym, organised classes from spinning to step, or are looking for a relaxing massage, or Spa treatment you will find many resorts offering daily packages which can be paid on entrance.
