Los Reyes Magos (Three wise men or kings)
5th January
A theatrical event where locals dress as the 3 Kings, and parade through the streets on camels, horses and floats, along with fire eaters, lambs, and local school bands.
Carnival
Mid February in Santa Cruz
The Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife is one of the biggest and most spectacular events of its kind in the World. Every February, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the capital of the largest of the Canary Islands, hosts this historical event, attracting around a million people from everywhere.
Semana Santa (Holy week/Easter)
Easter
Many religious festivals leading upto Good Friday take place in Tenerife.
Romeria Virgin de Fatmia
May in Valle San Lorenzo
Traditional religous pilgrimage! The image of the Virgin of Fátima is processed to the Mirador (viewpoint) de la Centinela, accompanied by adorned carts and folk groups that get the town into the mood with traditional Canarian clothing, singing and dancing.
Corpus Christi
Mid June
Corpus Christi, like Holy Week, is a festival taking place throughout Spain. Commemorating the institution of the Eucharist centuries ago, head to La Orotava for Tenerife's most dazzling Corpus Christi festival. Colorful carpets of flowers are set out in the streets to mark the procession route, an amazing tapestry depicting Biblical scenes is crafted entirely of the distinctive volcanic sands from Mount Teide's surroundings.
Fiesta de San Juan
Mid June
San Juan's night is full of bonfires, fireworks, music, dancing, sardines and bread. It's the welcome to summer, and its celebration takes place during the shortest night of the year. Bonfires can be seen from all the coastal resorts, however the best place to be is at Playa San Juan, either on one of the boats, or by the coast.
Virgen Del Carmen
July
Traditional festival celebrated in Tenerife's many traditional fishing villages, this celebration of the patron saint of fishermen involves fireworks displays and the procession of the virgin through the streets and into a decorated boat, where the procession continues as a maritime procession.
Virgen del Candelaria
Mid August
This is an extremely popular fesival on the island. The Virgin of Candelaria is the patron saint of the Canary Islands, and also lends her name to the city of La Candelaria- not surprisingly, this is the best place to enjoy the festival. Pilgrims from all over the island make their way to La Candelaria to attend this tribute to the virgin. Along with various masses and procession there is a floral offering, folklore groups and even a play representing the apparition of the virgin to the Guanches.
Local Fiestas
September
This is a popular time for the many local villages to celebrate their own fiestas, usually with colourful decorated churches and village squares, entertainment and traditional costumes, fairs and general fesitivities.
Fiesta de San Andrés
Late November
Traditionally, it is the day in which wine cellars are opened up and new wine is tasted. In Puerto de la Cruz and La Orotava, teenagers run noisily around the city banging pots and pans or dragging strings of tin cans, while in Icod de los Vinos youngsters engage in what looks like urban sledding as they slide down the town's steep streets on greased wooden boards.
Nochebuena & Navidad
(Christmas Eve & Christmas Day)
December

Christmas time in Spain is traditionally a very family-oriented time of the year consisting of large gatherings and dinners with plenty of food and drink. On Nochebuena (Christmas Eve), after one of these such meals, families often head to midnight mass, known as the "Misa del Gallo." Many celebrations and activities are held in the villages on the run up to Christmas.
Nochevieja
(New Year's Eve)
31st December

Due to the fantastic climate of the canary Islands, firework displays can be seen from all parts of the island, along with the traditional party atmosphere to greet the new year.
