Ciutadella -
The first and the most celebrated one – attracting visitors from all over Spain. On the Sunday before the fiesta a sheep with ribbons is carried through the streets accompanied by a piper to announce the start of the festivities. Medieval tournaments and processions follow amidst much merriment and the famous 'Jaleo' - up to 100 horses marching proudly amongst the throngs of people through the town to the beat of fiesta music. Touching the horses heart as they rear up is meant to bring good luck.
