The volcanic, picturesque Canary Island of Lanzarote enjoys a hot sunny climate with average daytime temperatures |
ranging from around 21°C in January to 29°C in August. Lanzarote is also home to some of the best white and rare black sandy beaches whilst the distinctive lunar landscapes of volcanic rock make the island an intriguing destination for holidaymakers and a great year round destination. |

The main tourist resort is Puerto del Carmen with over 2 miles of golden beaches and offers an array of water sports from windsurfing to snorkelling and diving. This bustling resort consists of two areas; the "Old Town" with its harbour-side restaurants which are famous for their fish dishes and the newer Avenida, commonly known as 'The Strip' with restaurants, shops, and superb nightlife with clubs, discos and a casino. Puerto del Carmen really does cater for everyone! |

Playa Blanca is a tranquil town situated in the very south of the island, and named after the most beautiful white sandy beaches in the area. Mainly a quiet and unspoilt resort, it’s the flattest and warmest of the three main resorts on the island. The centre of the town has retained much of its original fishing village charm with a good selection of shops, supermarkets and many excellent restaurants, some of which serve a mean bowl of strawberries and cream. Why not take the ferry from the harbour across to the neighbouring island of Fuertaventura where you can explore all that the bustling fishing village of Corralejo has to offer. |

Lanzarote is an historic island boasting an abundance of unique fiestas in memory of its past. These run throughout the year and everyone is welcome to join in the fun. An annual carnival is held every February where the whole island joins together to celebrate by parading through local villages and towns, dancing and singing in brightly coloured costumes going on into the night. Bring a costume and join in, its great fun for the whole family! |

Aside from the beaches of Lanzarote, the island is full of great attractions and activities catering for people of all ages. These range from watersports, tropical parks and golf, to guided tours of the Timanfaya National Park and the local wine making region. No trip to Lanzarote would be complete without visiting the weekly Sunday market at Teguise where you can buy clothes, shoes and local arts and crafts made from local volcanic rock, so you can take home your own small part of this memorable island. Don’t forget to barter! |
