Villa location

This beautiful seaside villa is located along a country lane just a short drive away from the many restaurants, shops and amenities of nearby Polis Town. Located next to its' sister villas, Thea Blue Bay and Nicole Blue Bay, it is perfect for families or large groups to holiday together.

Location features

Set in mature gardens of varying shrubs, lawned areas and in very close proximity to the coast, Villa Demetrios Blue bay is perfectly positioned off a country lane and just a short drive from the hub of Polis square or the wonderful sand and pebbled Polis beach. It is a charming villa ideal for couples, families or even large groups if booked together with the neighbouring sister villas.

Polis is 24 miles from Paphos on the northwest coast. Its full name, Polis tis Chrysochous, means "City of the Golden Land." The 'square' and its surrounding area has a number of bars, restaurants and small shops but the ambience itself still remains laid back, calm and relaxed.

A short drive from Polis is the slow paced fishing resort, watersports centre and former sponge diving centre of Latchi. The modern harbour is beautifully situated in the sweeping Chrysochou bay and is fringed with excellent fish tavernas. Asking for "the catch of the day" is a fish lovers' delight.

The Akamas National Park on the western tip is an area of breathtaking, rugged beauty. Home to the 'Baths of Aphrodite,' the best way to familiarise yourself with this region is to explore on foot, on official trails with bottles of water, sun screen and sturdy footwear. With over 530 species of flowers the park is often a blaze of sensational colours.

Northeast of Polis are numerous villages. Argaka has a lovely picnic area adjacent to the beach and is a perfect way to spend a day relaxing in the shade of the trees. Pomos is a small fishing village with stunning sea and inland mountain views.

Head south through Peyia square, known for its display of plays and concerts featuring international celebrities, and the pretty municipal gardens popular for wedding ceremonies. Alternatively, visit popular Coral Bay resort, which boasts a variety of bars, restaurants, nightspots, crazy golf and much more. This resort caters for all and many forms of watersports are to be found.

The small village of St George with its own little harbour and a handful of charming seafood tavernas is perfect for those seeking a calmer atmosphere than Coral Bay.

Travelling southeast is Paphos resort. Divided into two parts you can visit Paphos Old Town, with its maze of small streets and a local market or head for Kato Paphos and the harbour, which is home to some of the most intricate mosaics in the Eastern Mediterranean. There are also numerous activities to enjoy here and a variety of bars, restaurants, shops, the waterpark and nightspots to entertain.

Watersports

Water sports are available all over the island and charges on public beaches are approved by the Central Beach Committees. Prices do vary from resort to resort but, as a rough guide, windsurfers are approximately €10 per hour, jet skis €22 for 15 minutes, banana rides €5 for 15 minutes and ring rides €7 for 15 minutes.

Sailing

In winter the average sea temperature is 17°C thus making Cyprus ideal for year round sailing and yachting. Sailing vessels of all sorts can be hired in most major resorts. Prices vary considerably depending on the type of boat required. As a rough guide a sailing boat is approximately €22 per hour up to a speed boat at around €65 per half hour.

Tombs of the Kings

Just on the edge of the town of Paphos are the old cemeteries. A part of this incredibly large necropolis has been excavated and is known as Tombs of the Kings. The impressive appearance of the tombs and the heavy Doric style contributed to the naming of the site. It was used as a burial ground from the 3rd century BC up to the 3rd century AD and was used by persecuted Christians, as a place of refuge, long after. The modern day excavation started in 1977 and has uncovered 3 very large tomb complexes and the investigation of many smaller tombs.

Water Parks

The four most popular water parks on the island are the Aphrodite Water park in Paphos, Fasouri Water mania in Limassol, Water World in Agia Napa and The Fun Park in Protoras. All have special areas and rides for smaller children such as slides, fountains, water guns, and even a slippery octopus to climb. For the bigger children and brave and adventurous adults there are whirlpools, kamikaze slides, wave pools and water chutes plunging down into the darkness! They open daily at 10.00am from May to October.

Steven Devine, 21-Jul-2013

We were very impressed by the villa, especially the view. It is spacious with a good sized pool set in a private grounds. The villa is well equipped with everything you could need including wifi which was popular with our children. A car is necessary as stated, as the nearest shop is a good distance away. Overall a wonderful experience.
