Having a summer holiday in one of our villas for rent in Costa del Sol? Celebrate the fiesta of the Virgin del Carmen, the patroness and protector of seamen, held on 16th July. The celebrations start early in the morning in the fishing villages and towns up and down the coast - everyone is busy decorating their boats and organising watersports and games to take place on the local beaches. Tourists are enthusiastically invited to take part in the activities of this popular event and there’s no better way to get to know the locals and practice your Spanish (Espanol ). If you prefer, you can always simply relax and enjoy the revelry going on around you with a coffee - 'café con leche' or a café carajillo (with a dash of brandy) or relish Spanish cuisine by sampling some tapas in one of the cafes.

Most towns and villages in Andalucia have its own summer fair taking place any time after Easter until October. The fairs can last for a week with streets closed, tables and chairs set up, music playing and people of all ages joining in with singing and dancing – great if you’re looking for some party atmosphere whilst on your summer break in one of our Villas for rent in Costa del Sol. Probably the biggest party of the year in Spain is the Feria in Malaga which is celebrated in August and lasts for nine days. The festival is opened by a famous local celebrity and is followed by a spectacular fireworks display and then partying for several days. Throughout Malaga you can see women dressed in flamenco dresses during the celebrations whilst horse and carriages are decorated in ribbons and their drivers are in traditional costume. There is plenty of entertainment for the children and lots of dancing in the street. At night, the focus of the Feria is on the outskirts of Malaga at a huge fairground with over 200 marquees where everyone meets up to party every evening. These casetas are open to visitors where you can buy food and tapas whilst enjoying the party.
