You will be pleasantly surprised at the wide choice of restaurants to be found on the Costa Blanca where you can find both international and Spanish cuisine. All the resorts have their local Spanish restaurants with a welcoming and traditional atmosphere, which are informal and offer first class food at very reasonable prices. You will also find a multitude of international restaurants competing to offer wide menus at a good price – the choice is yours!
Restaurant In Costa Blanca
The food and cooking is typically
Mediterranean in its liberal use
of olive oil (Spain produces one
third of the world's supply), onions,
garlic, peppers and tomatoes.
Traditional Spanish food is simple,
based on fresh ingredients with a hint of herbs and spices. Like the rest of Spain, meat and seafood are eaten almost everywhere in the Costa Blanca. The Valencian region is also the home of the famous rice dish Paella and is widely available in all resorts.
Many bars and restaurants offer Tapas, a series of small dishes ranging from salads/ fried fish/ kebabs and shellfish. One of the best things about eating tapas in bars is that you can experiment. Many places have food laid out on the counter so you can order by pointing without having to know the names. Raciones are simply bigger plates of the same intended to be shared amongst a couple of people and are filling enough for a light meal. Very few Spanish are vegetarian but there are always salads on every menu, and often rice dishes have no meat or fish in them.
You won’t go far wrong by ordering the Spanish house wine, red white or rose. However there is usually an interesting wine list to browse through, which will make happy reading, especially the price column!!
