One of the most refreshing aspects of the resorts in Corfu is their human scale. Even the most commercial resorts are small enough not to intimidate and offer excellent facilities for all age groups. There are no high rise blocks taking up miles of coastline and many areas maintain a distinctly local character as well as offering all one could need as a holiday maker.

The capital town of 'Corfu' is a must with plenty to occupy everyone from sight seers & souvenir hunters to historians & antique collectors and the more 'traditional' resorts range from little seaside villages that have developed gradually through the years to purpose built complexes with all the latest facilities and a wide range of accommodation.

There are numerous local festivals and processions too such as the village 'panayiris' Saints day festivities with live music and local dancing; the St Spiridon procession, and the Varcarolas in Corfu, St Stephanos, Kalami and Paleocastritsa, small boats lit up with lights and playing music sailing around the bays at night. There is an open-air cinema in Corfu and a Music university where free concerts are often held and there are the Big Summer concerts where Greek pop stars play in the Old Fortress or main towns around the island. All these events tend to be 'luck of the draw' as advertising is generally very last minute but they imbue in Corfu a unique vibrant life.
